Summary
The nail-biting official trailer for the upcoming post-apocalyptic film28 Years Laterhas finally been released by Sony Entertainment. After a long wait for fans, the film’s first trailer has been greeted with open arms as the sequel seems to offer up everything thathorrorlovers could ever have hoped for, including plenty of eerie vibes and a mountain of sinister skulls. The third film in its zombie trilogy,28 Years Latertells the story of a young boy in search of a doctor for his sick mother as they both try and navigate the picturesque terrain of the English countryside. Of course, due to the Rage Virus making a comeback, things aren’t made easy as savage zombies have infiltrated these locations in a bid to terrorize and kill survivors.
Written by Alex Garland and directed by Danny Boyle,28 Years Later’s cast is packed full of talented actors, some of which include Jack O’Connell (Unbroken), Jodie Comer (Killing EveandThe End We Start From), Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Kraven the HunterandNosferatu), Alfie Williams (His Dark Materials)and Ralph Fiennes (The MenuandHarry Potter). Much of28 Years Later’s plothas been kept mostly under wraps, but Sony’s first trailer for the intense zombie movie has slightly opened the door and allowed some of its secrets to gush out (finally).

28 Years Later’s Official Trailer Is More Sinister Than Expected
The brand-new trailer for28 Years Laterfeatures a host of ghastly goings-ons from a human tied upside down and a huge mountain of skulls to the apparent appearance of Cillian Murphy as a lonesome infected. Although it hasn’t been confirmed yet whether this is indeed Murphy rising from a field behind Jodie Comer and the young boy, many fans were quick to say how much the zombie looked like him, which is probably not a huge compliment for the talentedOppenheimer star. It was previously confirmed that Murphy would play a role in the post-apocalyptic film in some fashion, and he also serves as its executive producer.
Coupled with zombies running across an open field, military people getting attacked by a bearded, long-haired infected person, andAaron Taylor-Johnsonin the countryside clutching a bow and arrow, what really makes the trailer stand out to be as sinister as possible is the haunting narration of a Taylor Holmes recording of Rudyard Kipling’s war poem,Boots. The repetitive wording of the poem is meant to go in time with the sound of British foot soldiers as they march and was used in South Africa during the Second Boer War. The 1915 spoken-word recording was also used in military SERE schools in America due to its psychological effect.
Just like in28 Years Later’s first movie poster, which featured hundreds of red skulls, the trailer also hones into this aspect as Jodie Comer, Alfie Williams, and Ralph Fiennes come across a shrine of some sort stacked to the skies with human heads. With a budget of $75 million,28 Years Lateris the biggest film to be created on an iPhone, and if this first trailer is anything to go by, it looks as though the 17-year wait could be worth it after all.
28 Years Laterwill be released in theaters on August 02, 2025.
