If Barone decides to bring another big update toStardew Valley, adding a New Year’s Eve festival could help round out in-game holidays.
Stardew Valley Not Having a New Year’s Eve Event Feels Like a Missed Opportunity

While somefestivals inStardew Valleyhave their own obvious real world counterparts, like Egg Festival and Feast of the Winter Star being takes on Easter and Christmas, there are also plenty of celebrations unique to the game, like SquidFest. This balance of familiar and new brings even more charm toStardew Valley, but the lack of a year’s end festival is surprising. There has yet to be any confirmation of a potential 1.7 update, though. In an interview with PC Gamer, Barone stated, “I could keep working on the game forever, every aspect of the game could be enriched.” While this is promising for those who are already eager for more content, there are still no plans to bring extra content toStardew Valley.
Despite no official 1.7 plans, a New Year’s Eve festival would be the perfect addition to a hypothetical update.Animal Crossing, another laid back life sim, boasts its own end of the year countdown,which could greatly benefitStardew Valley. Not only would this give longtime players another festival to look forward to, it would also be a wonderful way for newcomers to celebrate their first year with the game.

There May Be Good Reason For Stardew Valley’s Lack of New Year’s Eve Content
Leaving out one of the year’s biggest holidays is indeed a surprise, but there may be a reasoning behind this mysterious omission. This is merely speculation, but adding a New Year’s Eve festival to the game’s calendar could have potentially just made winter too crowded. There are already four winter festivals, which is more than the otherStardew Valleyseasons. Adding a fifth celebration to the mix could theoretically run the risk of making the winter schedule too cumbersome.
Ultimately, a New Year’s Eve festival would just be a sprinkling of extra content to an already wonderfully full game. Fresh content is always exciting, butStardew Valleyalready boasts 12 holidays, and that has proven to be plenty. Of course, Barone may surprise players in the future with a New Year’s Eve addition, but that remains to be seen.Stardew Valley’s 1.6 update has already added a treasure trove of contentthat is bound to keep players entertained for a long time.
