Back in June,Attack on Titancreator Hajime Isayamaannounced a new project, and it will start soon! This project is apparently not directly related toAttack on Titan, but it also involves Eren’s Japanese voice actor, Yuki Kaji. It is titledSoyogi Fractal.
This project is currently marketed as part of the 20th anniversary of Yuki Kaji’s career as a voice actor, and it’s related toSoyogi Soyogi, a voice synthesis software character featuring his own voice. There are two versions: in one, it’s possible to reproduce Kaji’s speaking voice, and in the other, his singing voice. He stated that he created it because he was worried about people using his voice to feed generative AI, so he decided it was best to provide an official, legal and commercial way to allow the use of his voice.
The new manga is a one-shot story thatwill be featured in Kodansha’sBessatsu Shonen Magazineedition slated for Jun 30, 2025. Isayama storyboarded it himself, but Noshigami Kai is credited for the final art. It is tentatively titledSoyogi Fractal: Official Spin-Off.
Soyogi Fractalis likely to discuss the limits of AI, as the main character, Soyogi, briefly thinks about the purpose and the future of this technology in a teaser drawn by Isayama. Initial news also stated that the project would include a man and a woman, but with no further relevant information. Since this one-shot is a spin-off, it could also follow a slightly different path.
Isayama Moving From Attack on Titan
Despite the involvement of both Isayama and Kaji in this project, it seems the author ismoving away fromAttack on Titanafter the end of the series(and now, the end of the anime). It could be a temporary shift or maybe Isayama plans to start a new chapter of his life, away from the series he spent so many years of his life drawing.
WhileAttack on Titanfans might be disappointed, they will have to wait and see what’s next for the author. And just because he might be moving from it, it doesn’t mean he will not approve the creation of spin-off stories, either manga or anime. Last year, Isayama was honored with the Fauve Spécial at the Angoulême International Comics Festival, the biggest international festival dedicated to comics (and held in Angoulême, France, every year).
Attack on Titan: Last Attack Movie
Attack on Titan: Last Attackdebuted in Japanese theaters inNovember 2024, withgood commercial reception. This movie is mostly a “final act” to Eren’s story, as it compiles the last two parts of the Final Season, butalso adds new scenes. Luckily, Crunchyroll recently confirmed the moviewill come to American theaters soon.
Attack on Titananime adaptation is available to stream on Crunchyroll, both subbed and dubbed.
