Summary

TheAvengers: Doomsdaycast will undoubtedly feature several fan-favorite characters, and two familiar X-Men actors may reprise their roles for the anticipated film.

Avengers: Doomsdayplot details are thin, aside from the fact that it will starRobert Downey Jr. as the villain Doctor Doom. However, much like the past fourAvengersmovies, fans can expect multiple heroes from past MCU films to unite against the threat posed by Doctor Doom and any of his cohorts. SinceAvengers: Endgameconcluded, several new characters have joined the franchise, giving Marvel Studios a smorgasbord of heroes to assemble. According to a new rumor, two X-Men characters from the Fox era will be included in the roster.

Notable scooperMyTimeToShineHelloclaims Dafne Keen will reprise her role as X-23 (real name Laura Kinney) inAvengers: DoomsdayandSecret Wars. Another reputable scooper, The Cosmic Circus’Alex Perez, also took the X to claim Kelsey Grammer will return as Beast (real name Dr. Hank McCoy) forAvengers. However, they did not specify if it was forDoomsday,Secret Wars, or both. Details on how substantial X-23 or Beast’s roles will be in the next twoAvengersmovies were not divulged.

News of Keen’s X-23 and Grammer’s Beast’s returning forAvengers: DoomsdayandSecret Warsis exciting but unsurprising. While both versions of these characters are from Fox’s X-Men movies, they joined the MCU in separate films during the Multiverse saga. Keen, who first portrayed X-23 opposite Hugh Jackman as Wolverine in James Mangold’s 2017 acclaimed filmLogan, reprised her role roughly 8 years later inDeadpool and Wolverine. While X-23 had been exiled to the Void, she is seen celebrating with Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool, Jackman’s Wolverine, and their friends in the movie’s final scene.Grammer returned as Beast inThe Marvels' post-credits scene, where he greeted Monica Rambeau when she woke up in an alternate universe.

Beast’s return inThe Marvelsis one of manyMarvel post-credits scenes that haven’t paid off yet. However, if theseAvengers: Doomsdaycasting rumors are true, the payoff for that exciting but thus far inconsequential scene may finally arrive next year. Both Keen and Grammer have expressed interest in returning, with the latter confirming he’s had conversations with Marvel Studios about reprising his X-Men role. So, there may be some truth to these rumors, which have yet to be confirmed by official sources as of this writing.

The X-Men are expected to play a significant role in the next twoAvengersmovies, so X-23 and Beast will likely be joined by more mutants when they return forDoomsdayandSecret Wars. Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige confirmedAvengers: Secret Warswill lead into a new X-Men era, and fans are excited to see how the team factors into the Multiverse saga and what Feige plans to do with mutants. There’s a theory thatAvengers: Secret Warswill reboot the MCU and establish a new continuity where mutants were part of the franchise from the beginning. Including multiple X-Men characters inAvengers: DoomsdayandSecret Warsmight give credence to this theory.

Avengers: Doomsdayis scheduled to be released in theaters on August 01, 2025.
