I think there’s going to be some really cool developments ahead, and I’m excited to see what happens next.” The interview confirmed that the British actor will be part of the 2026 film that is gaining plenty of attention and hype at the moment, as this will see the Avengers make their return for the first time sinceAvengers: Endgame.
Downey Jr. is already confirmed to be part of the movie as he returns to the MCU, but he’s not going to be the only former Avenger stepping back into that world. Fresh after makinga cameo appearance inDeadpool & Wolverine, Chris Evans is also reportedly set to be part of theAvengers: Doomsdaycast, although his role is currently unclear. However, it could have something to do with the multiverse storyline, possibly even linking to how Downey Jr. is also returning.
Doctor Strange’s involvement in the storylineis going to create plenty of storyline possibilities, given the powers that he possesses. His character has built up some strong connections with many of Marvel’s other heroes over the years, too, and that will give the Russo brothers something to jump off of in a bid to develop his character even further. However, his long-term future in the MCU is still up in the air because, at this point, there is noDoctor Strange 3movie announced, even if there’s one in the pipeline.
Seeing Cumberbatch inAvengers: Doomsdayis something that most people expected given that it’s set to feature a wide cast of characters, and Doctor Strange is one of the most prominent and powerful within the MCU right now. However, having it confirmed will only ramp up the excitement surrounding the movie which is set to be one of the most important that Marvel has created until this point.
