Summary

When in the middle of an intense battle during a match ofMarvel Rivals, most players will be primarily focused on using their abilities to full effect, rather than worrying about passives. As a result, these lingering effects can often go under the radar, despite some of them holding the potential to be absolute game changers.

Not every character inMarvel Rivalshas a passive they can bring into battle, though most of them do, despite them all varying wildly in their effects. Very often though, theseabilitieswill feed into the character’s role and gameplan, with these passives being among some of the very best in terms of their impact.

8Chi Absorption - Iron Fist

Effect: Assists In Taking Down Enemies Allows Him To Absorb Their Chi And Gain Bonus Health

Iron Fist actually has two passives, one that allows him to run up walls to navigate the maps easier, and another that allows him to absorb Chi andbonus healthby assisting in a kill. While Iron Fist can turn an enemy into minced meat with a flurry of punches, it can admittedly take a little while to whittle down some enemies, especially Vanguards.

Therefore, being able to still benefit from assisting in a takedown allows Iron Fist to not only grow stronger but also heal up any wounds thanks to the health restoration. This also makes it easier for him to survive when he’s too far away from his medics for them to provide healing, which is usually the case.

7Wall Crawl - Spider-Man

Effect: Crawl And Run On Vertical Surfaces

Simply put,Spider-Manas a character would be pretty weak inMarvel Rivalsif he didn’t have this passive as part of his kit. Thankfully though, in classic Spider-Man fashion, the iconic superhero is able to crawl and run on surfaces, which perfectly suits his hit-and-run playstyle. Being able to launch a barrage of attacks before then crawling away to safety is only made possible through this passive, which can work in conjunction with his Web-Swing ability to evade enemy attacks.

Additionally, being able to traverse buildings also allows Spidey to observe the area from up high, giving him the chance to scope out his targets beforehand rather than jumping into the action blindly. Spider-Sense is another very useful passive that Spider-Man can use to identify nearby threats, but Wall Crawl is by far the more useful of the two.

6Smooth Skate - Luna Snow

Effect: Keep Moving Forward To Start Ice Skating And Enable Higher Jumps

A basic ability on the surface that can be incredibly useful in-game, Smooth Skate grants a boost toLuna Snow’sbase movement speed after running for a second or two. Not only can this be used to quickly evade any enemies who start targeting the healers, but it can also help Luna get back into the thick of the action as quickly as possible after she falls in battle.

The higher jumps can also be a big help in enabling Luna to make her way around a map so that nothing gets in the way of her healing. Experienced Luna players will also be able to make use of this passive to chase down weak opponents who can then be frozen, or just finished off with a few ice shards.

5Ceaseless Charge - Winter Soldier

Effect: Roterstern Reloads Automatically While The Bionic Arm Is In Action. Also Grants Winter Soldier Bonus Health

The Roterstern, Winter Soldier’sgo-to revolver, only holds 3 bullets in the chamber. At first, this may seem like a big disadvantage, but thanks to this passive, players will be able to continue dealing damage while reloading the gun in the background, while also earning a little extra health as a bonus.

This can only be achieved though by using one of Bucky’s Bionic Arm abilities, so in order to melt an opponent’s health bar, the best strategy is to first pelt them full of bullets, before then pummeling them with Tainted Voltage or Trooper’s Fist.

4Warrior’s Gaze - The Punisher

Effect: Retain Vision Of Enemies That Disappear From View For A Short Duration

Anyone who has played, or come up against the Punisher inMarvel Rivalswill know just how much damage this guy is capable of throwing out. This applies not only to his Adjudication assault rifle, but especially his Culling Turret, and with the Warrior’s Gaze passive in play, The Punisher can see enemies through walls for a few seconds, allowing him to line up his shots as soon as they leave cover.

Now, admittedly, the enemy does first need to be seen in order for their outline to show after they hide away, but it still gives the Punisher plenty of time to ambush anyone who tries to make a quick getaway. Then again, if he hashis ultimate, Final Judgement, ready to go, he can simply blow down the walls to annihilate anyone who tries to cower behind them.

3Archer’s Focus - Hawkeye

Effect: Aim At An Enemy To Improve Focus, Enhancing Damage Inflicted By Piercing Arrow

This is a passive which many Hawkeye players might not even realize is part of his kit, but it goes a long way in explaining how this sniper is able to dish out so much damage with a single arrow. Underneath Hawkeye’s reticle is a bar that will quickly fill up so long as the player keeps their aim on an enemy target.

Upon filling up completely, Hawkeye’s next basic attack will deal much more damage, especially if it’s a critical hit. Because this is such a useful boon for Hawkeye to make use of, it can be worth getting into the habit of aiming at the enemy for just a second longer before firing to make full use of it.

2Regenerative Healing Factor - Wolverine

Effect: Begin To Heal With Bonus Health Which, After A Few Seconds, Converts Into Regular Health. Assist In KOs Reduce This Cooldown

Out of all the Duelists, Wolverine is one of the most effective in terms of taking downVanguardswith large health pools. While part of this is due to his Berserker Rage, which lends him more strength after taking damage, another is the Regenerative Healing Factor, which essentially acts as a sneaky lifeline that can throw the opponent off guard, while also making Wolverine incredibly durable in the process.

Upon reaching 0 HP, Wolverine will gain a surge of bonus health, and if he survives for a few more seconds, that bonus health will turn into a regular health boost. When an enemy is going to extreme lengths to try and finish Wolverine off, this unsuspecting passive can force them to put themselves in a dangerous situation, leaving them wide open for a claw attack.

1Limbo’s Might - Magik

Effect: Convert Damage Inflicted On Enemies Into Bonus Health

Magik is a Duelist whose game plan revolves around getting up close and personal with her Stepping Discs to deal as much damage as possible. As a result, she can always be seen on the frontlines, but thanks to Limbo’s Might, her courageous efforts are rewarded with bonus health that can help keep her going when a fight starts getting a little tough.

This is so powerful that it feels as though it should be an ability with its own cooldown, so making it a passive is incredibly useful. It can also incentivize Magik players to experiment around with their abilities to see how to deal consistent damage over time so that the health keeps coming in.
