Natlan has introduced a roster of versatile units inGenshin Impact, including supportive characters like Xilonen and formidable DPSunits such as Chascaand Mavuika. Among these additions, Citlali stands out as a Cryo support unit, offering unique advantages.Unlike Xilonen, who excels in universal support roles, Citlali specializes in Freeze and Melt compositions, boosting Hydro and Pyro damage while providing consistent Cryo application and decent shielding capabilities.

For players using Pyro-focused characters like Arlecchino or Mavuika, or Hydro-focused mains such as Neuvillette, Citlali’s utility can make her a compelling choice for high investment. Her contributions to team’s overall DMG and team survivability may lead many to consider investing heavily in her signature weapon or constellations to maximize team performance. However, not all characters benefit equally from vertical investments, and it’s essential to weigh the value of such upgrades. Here’s how Citlali fares as far as her constellations go, andwhether they are worth investingin or not.

Are Citlali Constellations Worth It In Genshin Impact?

While Citlali’s constellations do enhance her team’s overall damage, she’s an excellent support unit even at C0, making her accessible and effective without additional investments. That said, her C2 stands out as a sweet spot for those looking to maximize her utility without committing to higher constellations. It offers the best balance of investment versus benefit, significantly improving her impact in Freeze and Melt team compositions.

On the other hand, Citlali’s signature weapon is not much of a priority due to its underwhelming utility it will provide to Citlali or the team. Players debating between pulling for her constellations or her weapon will find that prioritizing her C2 is a much better choice, as it provides a greater boost to her team’s performance. For those who decide against her weapon, Citlali can perform exceptionally well with more budget-friendly or free-to-play options, allowing resources to be allocated more strategically.

C1 - Radiant Blades of Centzon Mimixcoah

Effect

When she uses the Elemental Skill Dawnfrost Darkstar, Citlali gains the “Opalstar Vestments” effect until Itzpapa leaves the field. During this time, she will obtain 10 Stellar Blades. When a nearby active character other than Citlali deals DMG using Normal, Charged, or Plunging Attacks, or Elemental Skills and Bursts, consume 1 Blade to increase the DMG dealt by 200% of Citlali’s Elemental Mastery.

After nearby party members trigger Frozen or Melt, Citlali will gain another 3 Stellar Blades. This effect can trigger once every 8s.

Additionally, when Citlali is using her leap, or is Aiming or using her Charged Attack in mid-air, her Phlogiston consumption is decreased by 45%.

Importance

Medium

Citlali’s first constellation provides a useful damage boost for the on-field character (ideally the main DPS), granting additional damage every time they perform a Normal Attack (NA), Charged Attack (CA), Plunging Attack, or use their Elemental Skill or Burst, until the blades from Citlali expire. The blades can be refreshed fairly easily, as they are reapplied whenever Citlali uses her Elemental Skill or when Freeze or Melt reactions are triggered (with an 8-second ICD). This makes the uptime of the damage increase fairly consistent, especially for characters who focus on Charged Attacks, which have slower animation times than Normal Attacks.

While the damage boost from C1 is certainly beneficial, it is not as substantial as the advantages provided by her C2. Given that C2 enhances her overall support potential and team-wide damage output, C1 should not be considered a stopping point for players who are looking to fully optimize Citlali’s capabilities. Therefore, while C1 is a solid addition, Citlali’s true potential is unlocked with her C2.

C2 - Heart Devourer’s Travail

Citlali gains 125 Elemental Mastery, and other characters shielded by her Opal Shield, or who have Itzpapa following them, gain 250 Elemental Mastery.

Additionally, when the Elemental Skill Dawnfrost Darkstar is used, nearby active characters will also be granted an Opal Shield.

Also, the Passive Talent “Mamaloaco’s Frigid Rain” has its effects enhanced:

While Itzpapa is on the field, after nearby party members trigger Frozen or Melt, the opponent(s) affected by this reaction will have their Pyro andHydroRES additionally decreased by 20% for 12s. You must first unlock the Passive Talent “Mamaloaco’s Frigid Rain” to gain access to the above effect.

Priority

Citlali’s second constellation is widely regarded as the best stopping point, as it provides the most valuable benefits without requiring too many resources. This constellation increases Citlali’s own Elemental Mastery, which significantly enhances her effectiveness as a support unit for elemental reactions in particulat. More importantly, it boosts the Elemental Mastery of the on-field character by 250, making it a great benefit for characters reliant on reactions, and this effect applies in co-op as well. All nearby characters will receive an Opal Shield, allowing them to benefit from the Elemental Mastery boost.

Additionally, C2’s second part significantly increases Citlali’s debuffing potential, amplifying the Pyro and Hydro resistance shred from 20% to 40%. This boost in debuffing allows characters to deal much more damage, making C2 an essential constellation for maximizing Citlali’s utility in team compositions. Given these benefits, C2 is a highly recommended investment for players aiming to optimize Citlali’s performance inMelt and Freeze-based teamswith characters like Mavuika, or Neuvilette.

C4 - Death Defier’s Spirit Skull

While the Elemental Skill Dawnfrost Darkstar is active, when Itzpapa’s Frostfall Storm hits opponents, an additional Obsidian Spiritvessel Skull is summoned. When a Spiritvessel Skull summoned this way explodes, it deals 1800% of Citlali’s Elemental Mastery as Nightsoul-alignedAoE Cryo DMGand restores 16 Nightsoul points and 8 Energy for Citlali. This effect can trigger once every 8s. This DMG is not considered Elemental Burst DMG.

Low

Citlali’s fourth constellation primarily benefits her own damage output rather than significantly boosting the team’s overall damage. However, it still offers notable utility, particularly for players who struggle with her high energy requirements. With C4, her Elemental Skill not onlygrants additional Nightsoul pointsbut also restores Energy, making it easier to maintain Nightsoul points for a longer Frostfall Duration and more consistent Elemental Burst activation. This extended duration increases her Cryo application, allowing for more consistent elemental reactions like Freeze and Melt as well.

While this constellation isn’t as impactful for team-wide damage as C2, it is still a solid option for players focused on optimizing Citlali’s energy generation and Cryo application, especially in longer battles or when paired with high-energy demanding characters. However, unless players are going all the way to C6, it’s still not highly recommended as a priority, since both C3 and C5 are also not particularly useful for Citlali nor the team at a great extend.

C6 - Teoiztac’s Secret Pact

After being summoned with the Elemental Skill Dawnfrost Darkstar, Itzpapa will always be in the Opal Fire state, and when Nightsoul points are exhausted, this state will not end.

Additionally, when Dawnfrost Darkstar is used, Itzpapa will consume all Nightsoul points, and while it is on the field, it will continuously consume Nightsoul points. Each Nightsoul point consumed in this way will grant Citlali 1 “Cifra of the Secret Law” point.

Genshin Impact Tag Page Cover Art

A maximum of 40 such points can be gained, and each point Citlali possesses will grant all nearby party members a 1.5% Pyro andHydroDMG Bonus, and increase the DMG Citlali deals by 2.5%.

When Itzpapa leaves the field, or upon using Citlali’s Elemental Skill again, all “Cifra of the Secret Law” points she has will be removed.

High

Citlali’s sixth constellation, while quite complex, offers several valuable benefits. The primary effect ensures that Itzpapa can remain in the Opal Fire state for the full duration of her Elemental Skill, removing the need for constant management of Nightsoul points. This makes it easier for players to maintain consistent Cryo application throughout the skill’s duration for 20 seconds, which is especially useful for teams relying on Citlali as the sole Cryo DMG applier.

Additionally, this constellation enhances Citlali’s sub-DPS role, giving her increased DPS. The final part of the constellation provides a significant Pyro and Hydro DMG bonus to all team members, up to 60%, which can boost overall team damage. However, while this increase is substantial, Citlali’s second constellation remains more impactful for team-wide performance due to its debuff effect on enemy Pyro and Hydro RES. While the sixth constellation is a strong enhancement for Citlali, it is less game-changing compared to theconstellations of most main DPScharacters.
