Marvel Rivalsis dominated by mutants, members of the X-Men or the Brotherhood of Mutants that withstand the meta to show off their exemplary gifts and powers to fight to win. While there are only 6 mutants inMarvel Rivalsas ofSeason 1.5, players expect more to be added in the future, but in the meantime, why not take a look at how the current mutants rank against each other?
With 6 mutants, each with their own playstyle that compliments dive, poke, and brawl metas, the best characters inMarvel Rivalswill be based on personal skill and preference, but there’s a clear intrigue in the meta for casual play and competitive towield the best mutant around.

This ranking is from Season 1.5, and will likely change with the addition of more mutants as well as buffs and nerfs to existing characters. It’s also worth noting that Scarlet Witch does not rank on this list as she is not canonically considered a mutant.
6Psylocke
A Specialist Flanker Who Can Get in and Out in a Flash
Psylocke, in the right hands, is anintensely dangerous Duelistto counter, but she does have a high difficulty that makes her hard to use for most players correctly. For those who have a decent Psylocke, she’s going to be in the enemy backlines sweeping up damage and getting fast kills with her Psionic Crossbow and Psi-Blade Dash, but her projectiles do synergize with her abilities enough to warrant needing a skillful player behind her play style.
Psylocke’s abilities make her a great dive character to get behind the enemy line, dish out damage, and single out weaker targets, only to spam her abilities to enter stealth, move away fast, and do it all over again. The real problem with Psylocke is her reliance on getting the drop on enemies, as she doesn’t have the health to bring forth a full frontal assault without getting herself into too much trouble, and her Ultimate is a gamble on whether it gets killed, or gets her killed.

5Magneto
A Tank That Relies on Support to Conquer
Magneto is thedefense-orientated Vanguardthat will offer support for the team thanks to his shields that can block projectiles and melee damage, but he also offers decent offense with his Iron Volley attacks. Sure, Magneto has very limited mobility, which makes him one of the slowest characters and one that can easily get flanked and pinned down by a Wolverine, but with the right support and defense of the backline, Magneto becomes an immovable bulwark that will defend the objective with his life.
Whether it’s his Metallic Curtain, Metal Bulwark, or Iron Bulwark, Magneto will always have a shield at the ready for himself or his nearest teammate which makes him synergize well with supports and DPS as he pushes enemies to their defeat. His attacks are pretty modest, and his Ultimate, when used right, can devastate the enemy backline and keep enemies away from the objective with enough survivability for the skilled players out there to outlast the majority of other tanks if they have the right teammates to aid them.

4Magik
A Sword-Wielder, Designed to Disrupt Fights and Skirmish
Magik has immense power, and she wields it all in her oversized sword as she slashes and cuts at her foes from close range, allowing no breathing room for the backline supports and the tanks that try and push through her. Magik cements herself as a solid option for holding ground and going for thosepesky Strategiststhanks to her hard-hitting sword and the Stepping Discs that allow her to teleport in and out of danger.
When a Strategist locks in and supports a Magik, she’s near unstoppable thanks to how she can constantly teleport around enemies and distract them with each slice and said damage can convert tobonus health with Limbo’s Might. She’s a great Duelist, but she needs to be dangerously close to her enemies to strike, and if a healer isn’t paying attention to her, she might easily fall.

3Wolverine
The Best There is at What He Does, Even if He Has Plenty of Counters
Wolverine is a Duelist who is capable of absolutely ruining the fun for Vanguard characters. Wolverine’s a tank buster, and whether it’s a Groot or a Magneto, his claws are taking them down, and only further fueling his abilities thanks to the damage buff from his Savage Claws and the passive healing from his Healing Factor, which is all based on his damage dealt. Wolverine can flank characters easily, and even drag them to his team’s backlines to kill them, making him a defiant mutant that can use his abilities and his savage brawl techniques to disrupt his enemy team’s flow thanks to his immensely close-range brawl attacks, high mobility, and hisincredible survivabilitypassives.
However, Wolverine can be easily countered by the right heroes, as ability-stopping Duelists like Winter Soldier, anti-dive Duelists like Namor, and even flight characters like Iron Man and the Human Torch, will easily make sure Wolverine players are in for a bad time, and there’s not many ways Wolverine can push past these enemies unless a competent team is charging in with him so his claws can evoke utter savagery onto his foes.

2Namor
One of the Best Anti-Dive and Anti-Vanguard Heroes
For those asking, yes, Namor is technically a mutant. Born from a human father and an Atlantean mother, Namor the Sub-Mariner prefers to hold his title of King of Atlantis over any mutant label, but it’s still part of his canon. Regardless of his status as a mutant, Namor impresses for the most skilled players as a Duelist who can cause quite the commotion for Vanguards and Duelists with his complete anti-dive kit, which can halt Wolverine, Spider-Man, Hulk, and other heroes who dare to try and get past him.
Namor definitely takes a bit of skill to use right with his Trident of Neptune projectiles and Auatic Dominion monstro spawn to lock down areas with hard-hitting turrets, but with the right Namor, there will be immense zone control to halt enemies from advancing. Even better for Namor is when he’s caught, as he can use his Blessing of the Deep ability to provide himself with an impenetrable barrier to hurl upwards and get away safely.

1Storm
An Omega-Level Duelist Who Rains Death from Above
Storm’s buffs from Season 1 ofMarvel Rivalshave cemented her place as an S-Tier hero who can conquer with the right team and the right player behind her. Storm is easily one of the best characters that can fly, which easily negates any use out of boots-on-the-ground Duelists like Wolverine, and even disrupts the flowfrom other Duelistswho have to divert attention to her, only for Storm to use her abilities to kill them first with faster and swifter attacks.
Storm’s attacks benefit from both long-range and medium-range engagements, and enemies that cluster together are all going to feel her lightning with each attack. Storm also has decent support options thanks to Weather Control, which provides her allies with movement boosts or damage boosts to continue to push her foes away. With powerful lightning bolts and wind attacks, Storm can eradicate the competition, and that’s without evenmentioning her Ultimatewhich sees a sweeping hurricane destroy anyone in its path with ease.
