Blue Lock’s second season came to an end with a two-episode special, which aired on Jul 01, 2025. Titled vs. U-20 Japan, the show made its much-awaited return in October 2024. The second season of the anime was quite polarizing, which is why it received mixed reviews.
Ahead of the finale of Blue Lock season two, a new cast member was revealed. The new character is named Michael Kaiser, and he will be voiced by Miyano Mamoru, who haspreviously worked on Steins;Gate, Death Note, and Pluto.
Blue Lock Season Two Received Mixed Reception From The Audience
Blue Lock’s second season had a great story, but the animation was lacking. In many of the episodes, viewers felt that they were looking at a slideshow of images. However, there were certain moments when the animation was genuinely incredible. For instance,season two’s finale was filled with epic sequences.
This also frustrated fans, and they began to question why Eight Bit couldn’t animate the other episodes in the same way. Their quality was so low that it overshadowed the good parts of the anime. While a third season has not been announced, fans will hope that the studio takes notes from its egregiously bad adaptation of season two.
Since a third season has not been confirmed, it is possible that the studio is not ready to undertake the task so early. It might be months before fans get an update regarding the third season.

Blue Lock is written by Muneyuki Kaneshiro and illustrated by Yusuke Nomura. Itbegan serializing in Kodansha’sWeekly Shonen Magazine in August 2018. The manga has become widely popular, selling millions every year. In 2024, Blue Lock sold over 3.5 million copies, making it one of the best-selling manga series of 2024. Blue Lock: Episode Nagi,a spin-off focusing on Seishiro Nagi, was released in June 2022.
Blue Lock’s anime adaptation was announced in August 2021. After a lengthy wait, the anime was finally released in October 2022, and it consisted of 24 episodes. The second season was announced immediately after the conclusion of the first season. Additionally, a movie adaptation of the spin-off involving Nagi was also revealed. The movie titled ‘Episode Nagi’ was released in Japan in April 2024. It was later released in the US by Crunchyroll.
