What happened to the expansion ofMichael Connelly’s exciting Bosch universe? In a word, Amazon! Fans were gearing up for not one, but THREE shows, all set in Harry Bosch’s world. Fans of Connelly’s books were hyped at the prospect of Renee Ballard getting in on the action, and joining forces with the ex LAPD detective in the finale ofBosch: Legacyseason 3. This appearance will directly lead into her own spin-off series, and will featureHarry Bosch guest spotsalongside her, and the plan was for him to continue in the lead role inBosch: Legacy. To add to this, Bosch’s ex-partner, Jerry Edgar’s solo series was set to relocate to Little Haiti for an undercover mission with the FBI. Exciting, right?Amazon has killed the hopes and dreams of many Bosch fans, and this has sadly led to less interest in the only show that is currently moving forward in the Bosch-verse:Ballard.

Renee Ballard will be played by Maggie Qin the ten-episode first season, which is set to air in the Fall of 2025 on Prime Video. It’ll be based on Michael Connelly’s 2022 book,Desert Star, which is ajoint Bosch/Ballard adventure. AfterBosch: Legacy’s cancelation, the fact thatTitus Welliverwould only play Harry Bosch in three episodes was focused on, as it shows a serious deviation from the books.Bosch: Legacyfans who aren’t clued up on the books haven’t even met Renee Ballard yet, so this just adds to the skepticism about the characterbeing relied upon to steer the Bosch-verse in the future.

Save Bosch: Legacy Petition Key Facts

Amazon Needs To Start Promoting Ballard Soon Or It’ll End Up On The Scrapheap With Bosch: Legacy, But Maybe That’s What They Want

Ballardcompleted filming last month, but overall details are pretty sketchy for the series, aside fromcast announcements, and the fact that it’s pretty much the same production team on board who worked onBosch: Legacy.Michael Connelly based the character of Renee Ballard on a real detective calledMitzi Roberts, who will be writing for the spin-off, as well as being a producer and technical advisor. Other than that, what do fans actually know?Amazon needs to start releasing more details aboutBallardsoon, or it faces the prospect of being dead on arrival.Even thoughBallardprobably won’t hit screens until late 2025, it’ll soon come around. The hype needs to start now, as theBosch: Legacyfans are very disenfranchised at the moment. Of course, if Amazon listened to their fan base, they would know that already. This is why the petition is so important and actually has a dual purpose. Yes,fans want to saveBosch: Legacy, but they also wantBallardto succeed, and the two shows go hand in hand. Is it possible Amazon wants Ballard to fail? Sure. It would mean they could stop crying about having to spend money on shooting in Los Angeles, and focus on investing in shows that fit into their dodgy algorithm.

As for the promotion forBallard, Amazon can’t spoil too much, with the character set to feature inBosch: Legacy’s finale, buta teaser trailer for the spin-off series soon wouldn’t be too much to ask for, would it?A glimpse of who Ballard actually is to give fans a bit of hope for the future. Now, because Amazon clearly has so much faith in Renee Ballard, Harry Bosch doesn’t need to feature in the trailer, surely? Correction:Amazon doesn’t have that much faith inBallardbecause if it did, Bosch surely wouldn’t even need to feature.Prediction: The trailer will probably feature Harry Bosch a lot, despite Titus Welliver only appearing in three episodes. Amazon will try to trick the casual fans into thinking they are tuning in for a joint show (and it really should be) but this is a forced passing of the torch, with a little sprinkle of Bosch, for promotional reasons. By all means, head over to theofficialBallardInstagram account, which currently has 261 followers. Great promotion, Amazon!
