Developer Treyarch Studios has released a major patch update forCall of Duty: Black Ops 6, bringing a plethora of new content, improvements, and bug fixes to the popular first-person shooter. Alongside a new update forCall of Duty: Black Ops 6, developer Raven Software has also deployed a new patch for the free-to-play battle royale title,Call of Duty: Warzone.
Alongside various bug fixes, bothBlack Ops 6andWarzonewill receive new content from Squid Game, the hit Netflix show that recently premiered its penultimate season. In a new blog post on January 2, publisher Activision pulled back the curtain on the massive collaboration and revealed plenty of details on the new game modes, operator skins, and premium event pass. One of the three new limited-time modes coming toBlack Ops 6with the collaboration will be Red Light, Green Light, where players must run from one end of a field to the other within the time limit, but players will only be allowed to move when they hear “green light” and must come to a halt whenever they hear “red light” or they will be eliminated.
The latestupdate forCall of Duty: Black Ops 6andWarzoneis now live on all supported platforms, which includes PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. While the newestCall of Dutyupdate brings with it a variety of Squid Game-themed features, there are also a plethora of different bug fixes and quality of life improvements across multiplayer, Zombies, andWarzone. Treyarch has increased all mantle speeds and enabled the ability to open and close doors while sprinting, as well as making UI improvements to the game’s after-action report, and more.
While there are plenty of new cosmetic items and modes coming to bothWarzoneandBlack Ops 6as part of the January 3 Squid Game update, the collaboration hasn’t been without controversy. While many expected the collaboration to simply be a plethora of new store bundles and a few limited-time modes, Activision had different plans. Alongside the Season 1 Battle Pass, players will now have the option to purchase a premium event pass for the Squid Game collab, which will grant access to some exclusive rewards, including a new Front Man operator skin. The community didn’t take too kindly to this though, with many blasting Activision for releasing yet another paid Battle Pass.
The January 3 update also adds a newWildcard forBlack Ops 6players to check out: High Roller. Once selected, the High Roller Wildcard will allow players to equip up to four Scorestreaks per game, as opposed to the usual three. The power of the Battle Ready Wildcard has been evident throughout Season 01, providing a constant uptime of Advanced UAVs for coordinated teams. We’re making a change today that removes the UAV, and swaps it out for a Supply UAV and Utility Box. Moving its role into more of a sustain-oriented Wildcard, not a recon advantage on your enemies.
