Summary

A YouTuber has stumbled across a method to reveal a plethora ofCall of Duty: Black Ops 6statistics that cannot be viewed in-game, such as a player’s skill rating. While this discovery won’t change any core fundamentals of the way an individual plays, skill-based matchmaking continues to be a hot topic in theCall of Dutycommunity, which means plenty ofBlack Ops 6players will be eager to see their hidden skill rating and learn more about how they are matched with other players online.

Skill-based matchmaking inCall of Dutyhas been a controversial topic for many years now, with things only becoming more divisive since the launch ofBlack Ops 6in October 2024. Skill-based matchmaking, which is often abbreviated to SBMM, is a system featured in plenty of competitive multiplayer titles where players are matched with others based purely on their skill level. It’s a complicated algorithm that goes against the usual matchmaking system which relies solely on a player’s internet connection. SBMM has become incredibly controversial, especially in theCall of Dutycommunity, as players believe it favors newcomers and punishes those who are good at the game.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Player Discovers Hidden Skill Rating Stat

Activision has recently begunbreaking downCall of Duty’s SBMM systemfor the community, but the studio has never made it clear what an individual’s skill rating is. Although players can see various in-game statistics such as their kill-to-death and win-to-loss ratio, it is not currently possible to see a player’s skill rating in-game. However, YouTuber XclusiveAce has recently discovered that players can request a full breakdown of theirCall of Dutystatistics dating back to 2021’sVanguard. The data can be requested viathe Activision support websiteby signing in with the relevant Activision ID and submitting a new request. The YouTuber says it may take some time to be delivered, but a massive datasheet will then be available for players to sift through.

As shown in XclusiveAce’s most recent video, the data shows a player’s skill rating for every singlemultiplayer match that they’ve played inBlack Ops 6. Although there isn’t much that can be done with this data, it is interesting to see how an individual’s skill rating can change over time. One of the most fascinating discoveries made by the YouTuber was that a player’s skill rating will take a drastic decline when backing out of matches persistently, but will then massively increase afterward. XclusiveAce showed how their skill rating went from just under 200 right up to almost 400 in just one game. While they did have multiple games at the lower skill rating, there was no gradual increase as the rating doubled from one game to the next.

It’s currently unclear how high an individual’s skill rating can go, but it doesn’t seem to be based on a player’s kill-to-death ratio, according to XclusiveAce. The YouTuber noted how they had exceptional games with a 3.0 kill-to-death ratio but actually saw their skill rating decline, which they speculate could be down to the overall skill level of their lobbies, which is not displayed in the data. So while manyBlack Ops 6players will likely be checking their combat recordfor their kill-to-death ratio and assuming the higher it is the more likely they are to have a higher skill rating, that doesn’t seem to be the case, as a massive factor is how well the individual performs in higher skill rated lobbies.
