His Arc Was Poorly Handled In The Witcher 3, Which Makes His Return Less Appealing
Dijkstra isa wily character from the bookswho’s wise and completes underhanded deals with great flair. This expertise is missing inThe Witcher 3, where Dijkstra can be undermined and made a fool of time and time again.
If players go ahead with Radovid’s assassination, then Dijkstra carries out a foolhardy betrayal that can only end one way unless players decide to do nothing as he slaughters some of Geralt’s closest allies. He should stay dead since it’s clear that Dijkstra won’t have the same impact anymore even if CD Projekt Red finds an excuse to bring him back.
7Keira Metz
A sorceress who yearns to live a comfortable life once again, Keira’s simple motivation leads to her trying to outsmart Geralt and get in the good graces of Radovid. It’s a stupid plan borne out of desperation that Geralt can talk her out of, but the sorceress' fate is usually a grisly one.
She will either fall at Geralt’s hand or be impaled by Radovid, with the latter being a consequence that anyone could’ve predicted. Some fans may appreciate herinThe Witcher 4, but most people would prefer other original magicians to play a central role instead of her.
6Avallac’h
Avallac’h’s character has played a major role in Ciri’s development across the books and the thirdWitchergame. With the White Frost being eliminated, there’s no reason to bring him back for her adventure even if he shares a bond with her.
Instead, Ciri should focus on other adventures that do justice to her new persona instead of rehashing plot points. The possibilities are endless, and there’s no reason why the game should rely on such lazy writing to keep fans hooked.
5Shani
Her Connection To Ciri Is Lacking, Making It Hard To Justify Her Presence
There’s no denying that fans were glad to see Shani make a return after being AWOL for a long time. However, this is mainly because Geralt is the protagonist who shares a history with her from the first game.
In Ciri’s case, she has no connections to Shani, which may seem like the game is forcing her into the fledgling witcher’s narrative inThe Witcher 4. A lot of time may have passed betweenThe Witcher 3and its upcoming sequel, which may make it even harder to justify Shani’s inclusion.

It’s Time For The Witcher To Move On From A Character Who Played A Huge Role For Most Of The Witcher Series
Philippa is one of the most important characters in the novels, with her presence being critical to creating the powerful Lodge of Sorceresses. She served as an antagonist for the bulk of the second game before getting her comeuppance at Radovid’s hands, who blinded her.
She was a shadow of her former self inThe Witcher 3, with her sole purpose being to take out Radovid and get her revenge. It would be farcical to bring her back inThe Witcher 4when it would be better to focus on other sorceresses who are just as powerful and can go through unique character arcs of their own.
3Triss Merigold
Her Connection To Ciri Isn’t As Strong As That Of Geralt And Yennefer
A lot of people love Triss for sticking with Geralt across the video game trilogy, even if her role wasn’t nearly as important in the books. However, with Geralt’s journey drawing to a satisfying close in the games, it’s easy to see why justifying her inclusion may be harder.
Geralt and Yenneferserve as Ciri’s guardians. Triss is more of an outsider who helped Ciri out at one point in the books but didn’t raise her voice when the Lodge tried to abuse her Source powers. This makes her connection to Ciri feel quite forced, which is the last thing players would want to deal with.
2Zoltan Chivay
Zoltan Chivay is a dwarf who’s been with Geralt through thick and thin in the games, even if his presence may not have been all that noticeable in the books. He’s a loudmouthed warrior with a heart of gold whom players loved to interact with throughout the three games.
However, Zoltan has also made so many appearances that players would prefer another dwarf to aid Ciri in her adventures again. He technically served asYarpen Zigrin’s replacement from the books, and seeing him inThe Witcher 4instead of Zoltan would be a great treat for fans who miss his boisterous presence.

Since Vernon is a human andThe Witcher 4seemingly takes place many years after the original trilogy ended, an aged Vernon may not make for the most compelling cameo. Meanwhile, Iorveth is an elf with a lengthy lifespan whose inclusion inThe Witcher 4will feel more natural and serve as a joyous moment for fans ofThe Witcher 2who miss this Scoia’tael leader.
