CD Projekt RedannouncedCyberpunk 2077’s 2.2 updateon December 9. Its contents were detailed during a livestream that kicked off at 11:10am EST a day later. The 45-minute broadcast ended with the revelation that the update would drop within the next several minutes.
CDPR made good on that promise, with the 2.2 patch rolling out circa 12pm EST on December 10. As was the case with the last several updates, this latest release is exclusive to PC and the current-gen version of the dystopian RPG, asCDPR ended support for the last-gen versions ofCyberpunk 2077back in September 2022. According to Game Rant’s preliminary testing, the 2.2 update is approximately 36.88GB in size on the Xbox Series X/S. SteamDBliststhe PC version of the patch as a 58.18GB download, while Game Rant reader Baneous reports that the update is 86GB on GOG. Its PS5 size is currently unconfirmed.
Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.2 Introduces New Car Customization Options
The December 2024 patch introduces several new car customization options, including an improved version of CrystalCoat first debuted inCyberpunk 2077’s 2.11 update. While the initial iteration of this feature only allowed players to change the paint jobs on Rayfield cars, this follow-up also supports vehicles made by Quadra, Villefort, Mizutani, and Herrera. As per usual, changing a paint job while being wanted by cops will help the player lose their wanted status faster. The second big novelty is the Kiroshi TwinTone feature, which lets players scan any car in Night City to unlock its paint job for their own(ed) variant of the same vehicle in exchange for a nominal fee. All TwinTone- and CrystalCoat-compatible vehicles are denoted with a spray can icon on the Autofixer website.
Speaking of Autofixer, ten new cars have been added to it with the new update, including three Mizutani and two Quadra models. Two of the new additions require thePhantom Libertyexpansion, while the remaining eight are available with just the base game. The 2.2 update also overhauls theCyberpunk 2077Photo Mode, introducing the ability to spawn up to three NPCs, create and adjust light sources, and control the camera with greater precision. Furthermore, the Drone Camera is now of the free, no-clipping variety rather than orbiting around V, and its maximum distance has been increased. The 2.2 patch also adds support for custom resolution Photo Mode screenshots, albeit only on PC due to console-specific technical limitations.
Kiroshi SmartFrames are part of this release as well, offering a way for players to further customize V’s apartment with photos of their choice. The 2.2 update even introduces new character customization options, ranging from additional eye colors and lip makeup types to more face scars and tattoos. That’s all on top of numerous bug fixes and some Easter eggs that CDPR said it didn’t want to spoil.
