Recently, Dandadan announced the results of its first-ever popularity poll. Okarun ended up taking the first spot, while Ayase Momo finished second. It makes sense that two of the top 3 spots were occupied by the main protagonists.

Anime-only fans will not know all the characters from the list, as some of them have yet to make their debut in the anime. With the anime’s first season already over, it is very likely that fans will have to wait till the second season to see them in action for the first time.
The results of the popularity poll are hardly surprising, except formaybe Turbo Granny being thethird most popular Dandadan character. She finished the likes of Aira, Jiji, and Seiko.
Dandadan’s Popularity Is On The Rise
Yukinobu Tatsu’s Dandadan has got off to a great start. The manga started serializing in April 2021 and so far has released 17 volumes. Before starting work on Dandadan, Yukinobu Tatsu used to work as Tatsuki Fujimoto and Yuji Kaku’s assistant.
Dandadan was green-lit whilehe was an assistant, but he refused to give up his role. He began working on Dandadan after taking care of his duties. The manga has sold 5 million copies, and this number is bound to go up after the stellar anime adaptation.
Dandadan’s anime adaptation was announced in November 2023, and the first episode premiered in October 2024. The animation is handled by Science Saru, which has previously worked on Devilman Crybaby, Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken!, and Night Is Short, Walk on Girl.
Fūga Yamashiro directed the anime, while Kensuke Ushio composed the music. Naoyuki Onda was in charge of regular character designs,while alien and supernatural designs weredone by Yoshimichi Kameda.
A second season of the anime has been announced, and it is set to air in 2025. So, fans won’t have to wait for too long to see Momo and Okarun in action.
