Summary
Dexter: Resurrectionis currently in pre-production, with filming set to begin next month, with a tentative release set for June 2025. Writer and producer on the sequel series,Scott Reynolds, recently revealed on social media that he’d been scouting locations in New York City, presumably for Dexter’s postNew Bloodreturn.Of course, nothing is confirmed yet, but it would make sense to have Dexter Morgan turn up in the Big Apple, as he had previously lived in upstate New York in the limited series.
Dexter: Original Sinpremiered last week on Paramount+ with Showtime, and it revealed thatDexter was actually alive, before the events flashed back to 1991 for the beginning of young Dexter’s origin story, with Patrick Gibson taking on the role alongside narration from Michael C. Hall, who will also return as the lead inResurrection.

New Bloodsaw Dexter Morgan residing in the fictional town of Iron Lake in upstate New York, when his teenage son, Harrison, turned up to reconnect with his estranged father. However, it all ended badly, with Harrison shooting Dexter in the chest, with fans believing the serial killer with a code was dead.Original Sinconfirmed Dexter’s survival, as he was rushed to the hospital and revived. Question is:where is Dexter going to be living inResurrection?Writer and producer, Scott Reynolds recently dropped a few hints on hisX account:
Scouting in gloomy NYC. It’s gorgeous out here.
Less than a month beforeResurrectionbegins filming, it is highly likely this scouting expedition was probably for this particular production. It makes sense, as Dexter will at least start off in Iron Lake in upstate New York, as that is where he suffered his gunshot wound. As for what will happen to Dexter after he recovers from his injuries, fans can only speculate on this until more details emerge.
It Would Be Interesting To See Dexter Living In A Big City Like New York, But At Some Point He Must Return To Miami
If Dexter was to escape inResurrection, the nearest big location would probably be New York City, where it’s rumored that shooting could be taking place. However, even if filming goes ahead in New York City,Resurrectioncould possibly be set somewhere else.Having said that, why choose an iconic location like New York if it isn’t going to be set there? So many of these questions will have to wait until June 2025 to be answered.Angel Batistawas on his way to Iron Lake to confront Dexter at the end ofNew Blood, after discovering he was the Bay Harbor Butcher, so some of the events will probably take place in that location. If Dexter was to be charged for his crimes, he would probably return tothe iconic location of Miami, and that could quite possibly still be the case later on in the series run.
Any return to Miami would probably be kept under wraps until a later date, as it would be a major spoiler for the new sequel series. The New York scouting could be a smokescreen, and only represent the early days of the filming schedule.Either way, a lot of the interior filming will probably take place on a sound stage, similarly toOriginal Sin, after initial location shooting took place in Miami. When Michael C. Hall shot his current timeline scenes forDexter: Original Sinepisode 1’s shocking opening, the actor did pay a visit to the famous Miami Metro set, but this was purely a nostalgic return, and it doesn’t point towards any actual return to this location inResurrection. However, there are a lot of fans who would be delighted if this kind of thing actually happened in the sequel series.
