Now that Season 6 ofDiablo 4is coming to a close, Season 7 is patiently waiting in the wings as it sets to kick off the action RPG’s year.Diablo 4brought solid content with its current season, and the next will hopefully bring an even stronger update for players. Between the new party finder, a 90-tier Battle Pass, and theVessel of HatredDLC that launched alongside Season 6, Season 7 has a high bar to reach, and one planned addition stands out.

Season 7 ofDiablo 4will introduce exploding frogsto the game. This new season adds witchcraft powers, and with that, players will be given the ability to summon explosive frogs. It’s a morbidly amusing addition to the game, but it also sets the stage for a perfect new pet. Pets inDiablo 4give players adorably helpful companions, and a frog would be a fun addition to the roster.

Diablo 4’s Season 7 Presents the Case for Frogs to Become Pets

Broadening the Horizon of Pets in Diablo 4

As of now, the four pets to be featured inDiablo 4have been of the furry variety. From canines to snow leopards and tigers, these pet types have been great, but adding an amphibian to that list would bring a pet option that shakes things up. Of course, it would be a little jarring to have a frog pet following one around while also using poisonous exploding frogs in combat, but a less fluffy variety of animals would likely be appreciated. WhileSeason 7 ofDiablo 4doesn’t have an official launch date yet, it’s expected to arrive in late January, and it would be the perfect time to bring a brand-new pet to the game.

Items Pets Pick Up in Diablo 4

Pets can be incredibly useful for picking up useful items, and while it’s not necessary forplayingDiablo 4, they can make one’s time with the game a little more efficient. SinceDiablo 4is adding witchcraft powers, it would only make sense for a player to have the chance to gain a frog pet. to enhance the game’s role-playing experience, a player who wishes to lean into these witchcraft powers would likely feel even more immersed with a frog companion at their side.

When using witchcraft inDiablo 4, the power called Poison Frog Servant summons a frog that poisons enemies for a total of three seconds. When the frog dies, it explodes, causing instant poison damage to any nearby enemy.

It would likely bebeneficial forDiablo 4to aim for a new pet with every season. Introducing a fresh pet that is tied to the themes of the new season may be a strong way to ignite some extra excitement from players who want a more diverse group of choices. Pets may not be every player’s cup of tea, but for those who enjoy the feature, having a unique animal to look forward to every season might ensure more consistent players.

More Content Will Only Benefit Diablo 4

Even if a frog pet is never brought toDiablo 4, the game only stands to gain from including more diverse content, especially withPath of Exile 2presenting stiff competition. In order toget the upper hand onPath of Exile 2, pets alone definitely won’t do the trick, since the game has its own spin on this feature, butDiablo 4boasting more than its competition will only help it get ahead.

InPath of Exile 2, players can equip two pets.

Once Season 7 gets a set release date, the exploding frogs will be interesting to try out. These amphibious creatures may never get the pet treatment, but they will at least be present inDiablo4 in one special way.
