Summary

Blizzard has made some adjustments toDiablo 4’s Slay Ride to Hell holiday event, which should solve some issues that players have been running into concerning Treasure Goblins. The latest hotfix should both increase the number of Treasure Goblins spawning throughoutDiablo 4’s realms and ensure that their deaths are contributing to the Treasure Goblin Nemesis Challenge.

Diablo 4first announced the Slay Ride to Hell community eventabout a week ago, offering a challenge that offers big potential rewards to the entire player base, provided they can slay enough Treasure Goblins within a set amount of time. The event kicked off on December 17 and runs through July 11, 2025. Five tiers of rewards will be available during the event, unlocking as the entire player community effectively slays an increasing cumulative number of Treasure Goblins.

For the Slay Ride to Hell event, Blizzard has increased the number and frequency ofTreasure Goblin spawns inDiablo 4, ensuring that there are plenty for players to hunt down as they seek to unlock additional reward tiers for the community. Just two days after the event began, Blizzard has already increased that spawn rate again through a hotfix announced on December 19 by a community manager on theofficialDiablo 4forums. According to those notes, the hotfix will continue to increase the spawn rate of Treasure Goblins throughout Sanctuary and Nahanthu, as well as fixing an issue that had been causing some Treasure Goblin kills to not contribute to the community challenge total.

The hotfix may come as a reaction to fan backlash over the start of the seasonal event. After the Slay Ride to Hell event’s launch, several players reported having a hard time finding areas full ofTreasure Goblins inDiablo 4. Players had been complaining that they hadn’t noticed an increase in Treasure Goblin spawns at all, with a few even speculating that Blizzard wasn’t accurately tracking the number of global kills. Others had pointed out that Tresure Goblins were much easier to find when roaming the game’s overworld, with their numbers seeming higher in Nahantu than in Sanctuary.

Despite the complaints from some members of the community, players already unlocked the first tier of Treasure Goblin rewards on December 18. Meeting the mark of 5 million Treasure Goblins slain, this benchmark nets all participating players a Legendary Weapons cache, as well as bonus runes and an Undercity Tribute for every player who has purchasedDiablo 4’sVessel of HatredDLC. Additional reward tiers will unlock when the global kill count for Treasure Goblins reaches the 10 million, 15 million, 25 million, and 40 million marks.
