Dragon Ball Daimajust introduced a new character, who the Supreme Kai Shin claims to be the highest authority in the multiverse, which is interesting because doesn’t that title belong tothe Omni-King ZenofromDragon Ball Super? InDragon Ball Daimaepisode 10, “Ocean”, Shin tells Goku and the rest of the crew the story of how a being named Rymus formed the multiverse. In ancient times, the ruler of the Demon Realm, the Supreme Demon King, felt the need to expand his kingdom, so he ordered the Super Majin Rymus to create the known multiverse outside the Demon Realm.
After creating the multiverse, a group of Demon Realm Majins migrated to the new universes to populate it. To further help fill the universe with life, Rymus selectedseveral Glinds to become the Supreme Kaisof the universes and help them grow. All of this really makes it sound like Rymus, and not Zeno, is the multiverse’s rightful ruler. So, did Daima really just retcon Zeno out of existence?
What Happened to Zeno Being the Omni-King?
Is This a Retcon, Alternate Reality, or Something Else?
To set things straight,Dragon Ball Daimais not issuing a retcon, nor is it happeningin an alternate realitytoDragon Ball Super. The new information Shin provided doesn’t actually contradict the established lore inSuper, as the series never claimed that Zeno created the multiverse. So, that role being given to a new character is perfectly fine. Now, what about Shin’s claim that Rymus is the highest authority in the multiverse when, inDragon Ball Super, it was stated multiple times that the Omni-King Zeno is the ruler of the multiverse?
Why Does Shin Not Mention Zeno?
The answer to this is simpler than you might think. It’s not because Zeno has been retconned, and this isn’t another instance ofAkira Toriyama forgettingDragon Balllore. Shin never mentioned Zeno because he doesn’t know who Zeno is duringDragon Ball Daima. Remember thatDaimahappens betweenDragon Ball ZandSuper, and Shin only finds out about Zeno’s existence inDragon Ball Superepisode 41, “Come Forth, Divine Dragon! And Grant My Wish, Peas and Carrots!” during the Tournament of Destroyers arc. If you’re wondering why Shin, a Supreme Kai, doesn’t know about the existence of Zeno, it’s likely because he’s relatively young compared to the other Supreme Kais of Universe 7. Before Shin could be properly educated in depthabout the multiverse’s hierarchy, the other Supreme Kais were murdered by Majin Buu, leaving him with no one to teach him.

To be fair, this does fill in some blanks left behind byDragon Ball Super. Before Daima, no one really knew who created the multiverse, and some people probably just assumed it was Zeno. But it makes more sense that someone else did the deed becauseall Zeno has doneso far is destroy, not create.
The Connection Between Zeno and Rymus
So far, it’s unclear whether there is any connection between the two rulers of the multiverse, though there likely is. Theories have already started surfacing about Rymus being the main deity for creation while Zeno is for destruction; similar to how the relationships betweenthe Gods of Destructionand the Supreme Kais are. Some speculate that Zeno might be related to Rymus by blood or that Zeno might be a creation of Rymus, meant to be his replacement.
But what’s clear is that sinceDragon Ball Supertakes place afterDaima, the statements of the Gods and Angels about Zeno being the multiverse’s ruler take precedence. So, it’s either Rymus is now gone and Zeno has taken his place, or Rymus is still around, but isn’t as high up the hierarchy as Shin initially thought.
What Are Super Majins?
Are There More like Rymus?
As of right now, there’s barely any information about what a Super Majin is. KnowingDragon Ball, it could be anything from a transformation, to a different race, or possibly just a title Rymus holds. Whatever they are, Super Majins must at least be closely related tothe Demon Realm Majinsbased on name and appearance. Rymus shares the same pale blue-green skin as some of the Demon Realm Majins, like Panzy. Additionally, Rymus also has the trademark pointy ears that most of, if not all, the Demon Realm Majins seem to have. Rymus is currently the only example of a Super Majin, and it’s unknown if he’s even still alive, so only time will tell if more information about his kind comes to light.
Weirdly enough though, Rymus also holds some resemblance to Zeno-sama. They bothhave short, compact bodieswith oval heads that stretch horizontally. This similarity is probably another reason why some people link the two. Though it should be noted that Zeno is likely not a Demon Realm Majin or Super Majin, as he has small little knobs for ears, whereas Demon Realm Majins have pointy ears.
