Starting with Goku’s iconic Super Saiyan form that he unlocked in his fight against Frieza, the Saiyans have achieved stronger states in dire moments to defeat opponents that could not be beaten otherwise. Every time, these new transformations are some of the biggest moments in the series and have gone down as some of the most iconic in the anime industry.
As such, one of the best forms that theDragon Ballfranchise has to offer isthe iconic Super Saiyan 4, which was, unfortunately, only relegated to the non-canon GT andSuper Dragon Ball Heroesseries. Super Saiyan 4 is arguably the best-designed transformation in the entire franchise and fans have been clamoring to see it back for many years now, so let’s look at how this can be done.

The idea of Broly unlocking this powerful Super Saiyan 4 state has been something fans have been wanting for years. The demand for this was so high that it became an official part of theDragon Ballfranchise inSuper Dragon Ball Heroes,where theZversion of the charactermade his villainous return to fight against the heroes in a brand-new Super Saiyan 4 state.
This could fit into the canon story as well, especially because of where the series is now in terms of transformations. The new direction thatDragon Ballis going in seems to give each character a form that is unique rather than having each of them unlock a new number/version of Super Saiyan. While some may argue that Broly’s recently realized Full Powered Super Saiyan from Chapter 103 is his way of standing shoulder-to-shoulder with Ultra Instinct, Ultra Ego, and Beast Gohan, a ‘Super Saiyan 4’ would be far more interesting.
However, much like the trend of transformations before the Divine Techniques came into the picture, it would seem Super Saiyan 4 wouldn’t add anything different in terms of functionality, merely a different design than what fans are used to. Still, it being a transformation unique to Broly would fit in perfectly with his character since it plays on the primal power of the Saiyan race and the Oozaru forms,which Broly is the best representation of.
Broly’s strongest form is currently his Full Powered Super Saiyan, which is essentially a transformation that has all the power of his Legendary Super Saiyan state, but now he can control its strength without losing his mind. It is highly likely that Broly, in this form, is on the level of the Divine Transformations and Beast Gohan, but bringing Super Saiyan 4 back just for him can potentially cement his place among his peers or even surpass them later.
How The Universe 6 Saiyans Can Further Differentiate Themselves

Conversely,the Universe 6 Saiyansare just as good of an option for reintroducing Super Saiyan 4 to the franchise. Although very little is known about these Saiyans compared to their Universe 7 counterparts, they’re confirmed to be far less aggressive, acting as bodyguards and protectors who stop crime as a peaceful warrior race instead of those who take over planets and subjugate its people.
Due to this, their physiology and way of life are pretty different from their Universe 7 counterparts. They still live on Planet Sadala and they don’t have tails, so giving them a different line of transformations compared to the standard Super Saiyan forms that the Universe 7 Saiyans would actually make sense. Even inGT, Vegeta didn’t have a tail before he unlocked Super Saiyan 4 but had one after that, so it could happen once more.

Though this seems to be a far less likely option than Broly, it would be cool nonetheless and would be a great way to make the Universe 6 Saiyans relevant again. Fans have been asking for a proper arc to take place in Universe 6 ever since it was revealed, somaking Super Saiyan 4 a formunique to Cabba, Caulifla, and Kale would be a great way for the characters to be powerful enough to matter if the arc were to ever happen.
Whatever the case may be, Super Saiyan 4 is a form too unique and cool to be relegated toGTand forgotten about completely, so many fans want to see it once again. Universe 6 Saiyans are similar to the ones fans are familiar with but have many notable differences as well, so giving them a unique form such as Super Saiyan 4 would be a great addition to the franchise.
