Kyle Crane is back in action inDying Light: The Beast, marking the thrilling return of the franchise’s original protagonist. Although Kyle Crane’s return inDying Light: The Beastis plenty of reason for celebration, not all is well for the beloved hero. For 13 years, Kyle has been subject to experimentation and torture. Now that his DNA has combined with the zombie infection, he now boasts beast-like powers that will help him on his journey to help the people of Castor Woods.

It’s a compelling turn for Kyle as a character, makingDying Light: The Beasta promising standalone adventure. Much of the game still remains a mystery, but there have been several features confirmed, with one of them being co-op gameplay. While exciting, this also raises questions abouthowDying Light: The Beastwill balance its Kyle-centric storywith multiplayer mechanics in a satisfying way.

Dying Light: The Beast’s Co-Op May Be at Risk of Hindering Kyle Crane as a Character

Kyle’s New Powers Make Co-Op Tricky

The world thatDying Light: The Beastis set to bring to life is promising, which could be great for co-op. However, the story’s main focus on Kyle and his abilities makes such a mode seem unbalanced or less immersive from a story point-of-view. Since the story hinges onKyle’s new beast-like identity, it makes one wonder if co-op will allow all players to take on these abilities in multiplayer or not. As it stands, there may only be two options forDying Light: The Beast’s co-op.

These two options have their own sets of problems. The first option could be a lot of fun for whoever gets to play as Kyle, but that leaves the rest of the party out of playing with special powers. For the second option, this would take away the feeling of Kyle being special. If everyone shares the same powers while playing a co-op story, then the narrative risks losing its impact.Kyle’s difficult journeyhas been one of the biggest draws ofDying Light: The Beast, and co-op could dilute any potential emotional moments. Although worrisome, there is also the possibility that the game’s co-op may be different from a simple multiplayer campaign.

There is currently no set release date forDying Light: The Beast, but speculation points to sometime in 2025.

Dying Light: The Beast Could Still Have Surprises in Store

There are still likely plenty of features that have yet to be shown to players. It’s highly possible that the confirmed co-op could be a completely separate mode outsideDying Light: The Beast’s main story. However, if the co-op indeed takes place within the story, then there is yet another possibility. Kyle may not be the only one who has been experimented on. Kyle may be one of many who has faced such torture, but this might be a less likely scenario. This would still present plenty of story-telling issues as well.

Co-Op Details in Dying Light: The Beast Remain Under Wraps

As of now, there is only speculation as to whatDying Light: The Beast’s co-op mechanics are like. Hopefully, multiplayer will be in a mode separate from the main story, but this remains to be seen. It’s hard to imagine a co-op version of the game’s teased story working smoothly, butdeveloper Techland may have pulled such an approach off.

Co-op inDying Light: The Beastwill be able to support up to four players.

Until more is revealed, the wait forDying Light: The Beastcontinues. While the promise of co-op may be a little bit questionable, the return of Kyle Crane to the driver’s seat marks a comeback that many fans of the franchise have been waiting for.
