Now, Circana analyst Mat Piscatella has revealed thatEA Sports College Football 25is currently the best-selling sports video game in U.S. history, and also the best-selling game in the United States in 2024 so far, even after the release of the popularCall of Duty: Black Ops 6. When gathering information considering physical and digital sales during the whole year,College Football 25still stands in first place, followed by the recentCall of Duty, and thenHelldivers 2. The fourth most-sold game in the country wasDragon Ball Sparking Zero, which was followed byCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. Other notable games appearing in the Top 10 includedElden RingandDragon’s Dogma 2, for example.
Most-Sold Games in the USA During 2024 (Up to November)

At the moment, it’s not known ifCollege Football 25will actually end the year as the best-selling game in the country. Between 2009 and 2022, the most-sold game of every year in the country was either from theCall of Dutyfranchise or developed by Rockstar. This only changed in 2023 withHogwarts Legacy, and it seems that the same could happen withCollege Football 25in 2024, but the information from sales during December is still not available, so that could change. It’s unknown, however, how much the release ofBlack Ops 6on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate may have affected its sales numbers.
Mat Piscatella’s report also indicated that thePS2 is no longer the best-selling video game console of all time in the US. According to the analyst, the PS2 was recently passed by the Nintendo Switch, which sold around 46.6 million units in the country since its release, and is currently behind only the handheld Nintendo DS.
