That said, this is the first title by FromSoftware that is an open world, so both newcomers and veterans of the Dark Souls franchise might sometimes feel bored when exploring the vastness of The Lands Between. Luckily, there are many fun things to do to shake up a playthrough in Elden Ring.
7Do NPC Side Quests
Sometimes, When Progressing Through The Story Gets Boring, Side Quests Are The Way To Go
The Dark Souls franchise has always been known for offering players tons of different side quests to do. Some can be completed rather easily, whereas others will forced players to explore every corner of the world to find the necessary NPCs, which can also make them lose out on certain narratives and lock them until NG+. The same goes forElden Ring, which arguably features even more side quests that are probably harder to complete and much easier to miss. Said challenges can come in many forms, including avoiding the use of different items that can help them survive more easily, or simply taking on enemies without strong armor or weak weapons. One of the most popular ways to do this is to start as the Wretch class, which is equivalent to the popular Deprived class in theDark Soulsgames. This class does not wear any kind of armor and only comes equipped with a club, which can be very powerful when fully upgraded, but not as much in the early stages of the story.
There are tons of famous streamers who have done multiple challenge runs with unbelievable obstacles to challenge themselves and prove their skills. If players are looking for inspiration, they should check out some or many of these videos to get an idea of what they’ll be facing and whether they actually want to take on additional difficulties. For those doing a NG+ run, this can be a great idea, as facing the same bosses over and over again can be tiresome, even if they are increased in difficulty.

A Little Tedious, But An Effective Way To Create New Possibilities
Farming inElden Ring, or any other FromSoftware title for that matter, is one of the most effective ways to level up and deal with enemies that are too challenging. It is undeniably, a tedious process that takes a long time, but at the end of the day, it’s completely worth it. By farming as many Runes as players can, they’ll be able to access new swords, shields, spells, and evensome of the best bows. Leveling up also grants players better Stats so they can increase their Vigor, Stamina, Intelligence, or any other Stat that they need to improve to gain acces to what they’re interested in.
SometimesElden Ringcan feel a bit boring when players are stuck on a boss for too long or can’t wield the weapons they think are fun. Byfarming as many Runes as possible, this will no longer be an issue. Depending on what stage of the game players are in, there will be different Rune farming locations and methods that they can try. If players are somewhere in the early-to-mid point ofElden Ring, they can try going to the Lenne’s Rise Site of Grace. There, they will find several small enemies that yield over 1,000 Runes per kill.
