As the court mage of the Gestahlian Empire, Kefka Palazzo is known for his garish makeup, colorful fashion, and a penchant for laughing at the misery he causes to others around him. Despite having the appearance of a jester, Kefka’s comical style belies his sadistic desires and his thirst for power at all costs. Despite being subordinate to Emperor Gestahl for the first half ofFinal Fantasy 6, Kefka seized control of three magical statues called the Warring Triad. Using the Triad’s magical power, Kefka unleashed destructive magic upon the world, leading to its downfall. Between his deeds and mannerisms, Kefka is considered one ofthe most terrifying JRPG villainsof all time.
While Kefka’s attire is considered one of the more unique amongFinal Fantasyvillains, one fan crafted the mad jester’s outfit to suit their style. On the r/FinalFantasy subreddit, a user named doubledaced offered their take on Kefka’s colorful outfit and shared both a picture of the costume and a piece of accompanying artwork that demonstrated what it would look like when worn. The costume was placed on a mannequin, with the left leg and foot standing atop a wooden piece. Kefka’s red and yellow collar was given an additional pink frilled neckpiece, and more pink frills were added across the shoulders and wrists. The outfit also featured mismatched leggings with pieces of red, white, and gold covering the lower legs. Holes were added to the bottom of the leggings for slippers or heels to be used.

For the tunic, doubledaced used red, gold, and blue fabric throughout the front piece, with Kefka’s sash attached to the wrist and the back of the neck. The costume maker added pink frills along the belt region, and a teal-colored crystal with a red bauble and gold trim was prominently placed in the middle. The teal crystal used by doubledaced looked similar to the Magicite used inFinal Fantasy 6, which is used by characters in the gameto call on Espers to perform attacks.
