While many fans were quite excited to buy it after the emote was released, it seems like it hasn’t gone down well in the community. Apparently, players are unhappy that it uses the TikTok remix version of the song Smoother Operator. The original song is a classic, which was sung by popular singer Sade Adu, and was released back in 1984. Currently, it has a whopping 178 million views on YouTube.

It is crucial to note that this is not the first time fans have been unhappy about a remix song being added to the game. For instance, the release of the Caffeinated emote inFortnitewitnessed a similar response in the community. The emote featured the viral Sabrina Carpenter song, Espresso, but it was a sped-up variant. Many fans believed that the version was worse than the original, whichledFortniteto release a new variant of the Caffeinated emote. Fans are hoping that Epic Games will do the same with the Smooth Operator emote as well.

On the flip side, some fans think that the original doesn’t really well fit well inFortnite, since it is a pretty old song.
