Summary

Fans believe that two major changes need to be made toFortniteselect styles to improve player’s in-game experience. Gamers don’t have to pay a dime to enjoyFortnite. As long as they have access to a gaming platform, they will be able to play it, as it’s free-to-play. However, many fans do spend money onFortniteto purchase V-Bucks, the Crew Pack, or Item Shop real-money packs. Alternatively, gamers can earn V-Bucks by leveling up and unlocking the free rewards on the Battle Pass, but this is a tedious process, and it takes too many seasons to save up a significant amount of in-game currency, which is why most players opt to buy them instead.

Fortniteadded alternative styles forcosmetics back in Chapter 1 Season 4; they’ve been part of the game for most of its lifespan. Carbide was the first skin to feature additional styles, followed by the infamous Omega, which caused many gamers to grind for XP at the end of the season so they could reach level 80 and unlock lights for it. Those who didn’t get there on time were locked out of Omega’s light style for good. Since then, alternative styles have been greatly modified, and there are now more types of styles, such as reactive styles and built-in styles.

Despite the improvements that have already beenimplemented to the alternative styles feature inFortnite, gamers have pointed out that there are still some changes that need to be made. Reddit user Conclusion_Such started a discussion thread on this subject in theFortnitesubreddit, and as it turns out, the community has a lot to say about it. InFortnite, players have an in-game profile picture that matches their currently equipped skin. However, it does not change based on the style that has been selected, and this is particularly noticeable for skins with styles that are significantly different compared to the default version of the skin. Another complaint is the fact that it’s not possible to pick a style if it’s linked to a built-in emote, and gamers are forced to emote at the start of every match if they want to change to that style.

What Changes Do Select Styles Need in Fortnite?

Regarding the first matter, players pointed out that this isn’t a crucial change for skins whose styles are barely any different from the default styles. For example, theSanta ShaqFortniteskinhas seven select styles, and it wouldn’t make sense for Epic Games to add profile icon images for each customization combination. However, it would be perfect for skins such as Twyn, whose select style is a completely different character.

When it comes to the second point, Epic Games could keep the option to switch between built-in styles mid-match, but also allow players to select their preferred style at the start of the match. This also goes for other types of cosmetics. Gamers who own theEzio Auditore skin inFortnitehave to emote at the start of every match in order to use the Hidden Blade as a cosmetic. It’s an avoidable additional step.
