Summary
Fortniteis no stranger to updates and the latest one for the popular battle royale brings back a number of fan-favorite gear like the Hunting Rifle, launch pad, and more. December has already proven to be a busy month for Epic Games withFortnite, as the game has been releasing plenty of new skins alongside the annual Winterfest event.
As expected,Fortnite’s Winterfest eventhas returned, adding a blanket of snow to the island along with event quests and items like the Icy Feet and Blizzard Grenade. Naturally, Winterfest has no shortage of rewards for players from the Cozy Cabin as well as premium skins like Mariah Carey, Santa Dogg, and Santa Shaq. However, the holidays aren’t the only thing happening in Fortnite, as the game features more collaborations with Cyberpunk 2077, Batman Ninja, and more. Plus, there’s an OG side to the game that’s getting more updates as well.

The latest hotfix forFortniteis a relatively small one, though for longtime fans, it may prove to be more exciting than normal. The surprise update for thepopular Fortnite OG modesees the return of Launch Pads, a legacy item typically associated with Chapter 1, Season 1. Launch Pads were the classic traversal item, before vehicles or other movement boosting items, allowing players to drop them down and take to the air to get the drop on enemy players or provide a quick escape from a tough situation.
Fortnite Brings Back Classic Weapons and Items
TheLaunch Pad isn’t the only returning item toFortnite, however. The hotfix brings back the Hunting Rifle originally from Chapter 3, givingFortniteplayers a way to deal some damage from afar, especially since some are unhappy that sniper rifles have been removed in Chapter 6, Season 1. Additionally, Cluster Clingers from Chapter 5 are also back and available in both Battle Royale and Zero Build like the Hunting Rifle.
In addition to many of these classic weapons and items,Fortnite OG has been a massive success for Epic Gamesso far, as 1.1 million players checked out the mode in the first 2 hours that it launched. In addition to the game mode, Epic launched an OG Item Shop, bringing back classic skins and items for purchase. Not everyone seems to be a fan of bringing back ultra rare skins though, as some are less than thrilled that the Renegade Raider and Aerial Assault Trooper are available once more.
