Summary

During the most wonderful time of the year, there’s nothing that gets gamers in the festive spirit more than Christmas mods. They’re few and far between as they’re only relevant once a year, but no one ever said that Christmas mods needed to be a December exclusive. Anyone who isn’t a bah-humbug can enjoy Christmas mods all year round.

Most Christmas mods don’t add much more to a game than a few decorations, but it’s still one way to welcome the cold winter months with some holiday cheer. Grab a cup of hot cocoa, settle in by the cozy fireplace, and install these Christmas mods to truly embrace the time for joy, laughter, and silly, Christmas-themed costumes and decor.

“Christmas with Mercedes and Santa” is aGrand Theft Auto: Vice CityChristmas mod that dresses Mercedes in candy-can stockings, a trimmed red coat, and a Santa hat, and even adds the jolly old Saint Nick himself.

The mod spawns Santa and his sleigh, which pairs perfectly with anotherVice Citymod: the Winter Mod, originally released in 2013 and updated in 2014. The Winter Mod invites players into a Vice City turned winter wonderland, as all the roads, buildings, and landscapes are covered in a thick blanket of snow.

The Christmas mod for theResident Evil HD Remastergives the Spencer Mansion a complete makeover. The mod implements more than 70 Christmas-themed items (separate from the main game) with unique descriptions upon inspection, 65 new character models/skins, a festive soundtrack with over 45 songs, and more than 400 voice files for remade cutscenes, among other key environmental details. The Christmas mod also features seven new endings and a surprise gift from the developer with every download.

In a completely original story, the Santa’s Workshop mod focuses on Atnas, Santa’s evil twin, who is trying to ruin Christmas by attacking Santa’s Workshop. It is the player’s decision to either help Atnas complete his quest to overthrow Christmas or pull out all the stops to put an end to his nefarious scheme.

A lot of the visuals are very similar to another well-knownStar Wars Battlefrontmod: Christmas in Jinglin' Town. Santa’s Workshop works with the game’s regular Conquest Mode, plus it has its own Hunt Mode as well.

Simply and appropriately titled “The Christmas Mod,” thisFallout 4mod adds four new outfits from red polka-dot dresses and knitted sweaters to Santa hats and red top hats. Plus, tons moreChristmas-themed items are added to the settlement crafting menu, Vault-Tec loot boxes contain holiday loot, and a secret loot item in Diamond City that only appears on Christmas Day. Items can be crafted at chem benches or cooking stations under “Christmas.” ManyFalloutfans find themselves coming back to “The Christmas Mod” for an annual download as it’s one of the only mods of this category forFallout 4.

The Witcher 3’s Christmas modswitches out Geralt’s original Cat armor (level one) for a Santa Claus outfit and the first Horse items available for Christmas-themed alternatives. Further modifications also make changes to the Cat crossbow and bolts, replacing them with a bell crossbow and fireworks, respectively.

As for weapons, wooden clubs and swords are substituted for oversized candy canes. The Santa Claus ensemble can be crafted by the armorer provided that players have the schematics for the Cat armor, while candy-cane swords, crossbows, and fireworks can all be made by the blacksmith.

Aptly named “Christmas in New Vegas” is a simple mod that brings some Christmas cheer to New Vegas with trees, rope lights, andfestive decor lining the Vegas strip. Some of the poorer regions of New Vegas are also included, even though the decorations aren’t as extravagant as they are along the strip.

The casino has some unique decorations as well, such as Christmas lights in front of Gomorrah or a light display resembling a toy car color palette outside the Tops Casino. This mod works perfectly with Santa Securitons by quoter 1, which replaces all Securitons with Santa-themed ones.

“Spirit of Saturalia” is a mod thatintegrates a whole new quest intoSkyrim, one that spawns a note in the player’s inventory for “aid” within a certain city. Some of the highlights of the mod include several custom assets such as animated magical snow globes, original music by Kevin MacLeod, and an abundance of Christmas decor. Following the note’s guidance will lead the player to Embershard Mine, where they will retrieve a snow globe. When they open it in their inventory, they will be transported inside it to explore a beautifully crafted Christmas house. Some of the sub-quests involve decorating the Christmas house by making baubles, crafting the star to go on the tree, stockings, and wreaths.

In theDoom 2Christmas mod, the enemies are replaced withevil Santa sprites and Cacodemons and Pain Elementalsresemble baubles with a glass-shatter sound effect playing whenever they are shot and killed. The Plasma Rifle shoots out red and green projectiles, the shotgun is adorned with a little red bow, and candy canes are used for melee attacks rather than bare fists. This makes it more fun to use Berserk, as enemies can be taken down with a giant candy cane. This mod also has 32 custom Christmas tracks and intermission screens for a more immersive and one-of-a-kind experience.
