The latest beta build for Version 5.3 has introduced sweeping changes to the Pyro Traveler inGenshin Impact, albeit the changes only apply when fighting the new weekly boss. While the Traveler had historically been a hit-or-miss character inGenshin Impact, Natlan implied that the format would change in a significant way for the Pyro element. Not only was the Pyro Traveler delayed, but the method of acquiring the element was changed entirely.
The Pyro Traveler inGenshin Impactis expected to arrive in Version 5.3, and the ability kit will be used to confront Xiuhcoatl during the finale of Natlan’s Archon Quest. In terms of how it compares to the beloved Dendro Traveler, the jury is still out. While not the flashiestcharacter inGenshin Impact, the Pyro Traveler is expected to be a decent option to apply off-field Pyro while being able to wield the new Artifact Sets from Natlan. More importantly, the Pyro Traveler can also restore Nightsoul points to other Natlan characters, making the kit synergistic with units such as Mavuika or Mualani.
While the latest beta build has seen some controversial changes, the Pyro Traveler has been given significant buffs across the board.According to HomDGCat, the buffs only apply when the Pyro Traveler is fighting Xiuhcoatl – likely during both his Story Mode and Trounce Domain encounter. Given how elaborate the buffs are, and how much effort HoYoverse took in balancing them, someGenshin Impactplayers believe that there may be a way to use them outside the new Trounce Domain. That being said, nothing has been confirmed just yet, and fans should assume that these buffs only apply when fighting theupcomingGenshin Impactweekly boss.
Apart from the Constellations that are tied to the weekly boss, the biggest change for thePyro Traveler inGenshin Impactis a cooldown reduction on the Elemental Skill. While 18 seconds still has 6 seconds of downtime, it does allow for a more fluid rotation with characters like Mualani. The Elemental Skill applies Pyro Damage every 3 seconds, and unlike Dehya’s Elemental Skill, the attack is constant rather than coordinated.
WithGenshin Impactslowly teasing Snezhnaya, there is (likely) only one elemental kit left for the Traveler to obtain. While the Hydro Traveler was widely seen as a disappointment following the success of the Dendro Traveler, many players are hoping that the Pyro Traveler will end up being worth the wait. The ability kit is certainly closer to a 4-Star character inGenshin Impact, but footage from the beta implies that the Pyro Traveler will find value in Natlan teams. Version 5.3 is set to launch on July 27, 2025.
