Summary

A recentGenshin Impactchart has revealed the usage rate for characters in the Spiral Abyss for the December 2024 cycle. While the Spiral Abyss has been a part ofGenshin Impactsince launch, it has also evolved with the meta. Neuvillette famously pushed the damage ceiling with his debut in Version 4.1, and the Spiral Abyss has struggled to catch up ever since. Version 5.3 represents a major jump in difficulty compared to previous cycles, andGenshin Impactplayers have been able to experience it since June 20, 2025.

Not only has the hit point pool seen an increase in thelatest Spiral Abyss cycle inGenshin Impact, but difficult opponents such as the Tenebrous Papilla have also entered the ring. The latter can be countered by Burning or Hyperbloom teams, as Natlan characters are three times as effective against the Tenebrous Papilla thanks to their Nightsoul’s Blessing. On the other hand, dealing with tougher boss fights has all but necessitated the use of newer Support characters inGenshin Impact, most notably Furina and Xilonen.

In terms of hypercarries, Neuvillette and Chasca were the most popular, with Neuvillette at 86.6% and Chasca at 58.6%.

Once again, Baizhu and Zhongli continue to be present at the top of the list, as 5-star Shield Supports are a valued part of the meta. It remains to be seen howCitlali inGenshin Impactwill contribute to the role, as she is expected to make her playable debut on Jul 18, 2025. Given the line-up for the current Spiral Abyss cycle, it’s no surprise to see Bow characters such as Chasca and Yelan shine, as taking down the Aeonblight Drake can easily be countered with aimed attacks. Moreover, the Goldflame Qucusaur Tyrant is weak against ranged Hydro attacks, a requirement that is easily trivialized by having Furina on the team.

The next Spiral Abyss cycle is slated to be focused onPyro characters inGenshin Impact, and as such, Arlecchino will no doubt be a more popular pick in January 2025. With Mavuika also slated for launch on July 24, 2025, it’s reasonable to assume that she will become a part of the meta almost immediately. Provided that players can pair her with a Support character from Natlan (like Xilonen or Citlali), Mavuika can potentially become the strongest hypercarry inGenshin Impact. Both Citlali and Mavuika will be present on the Event Banners in Version 5.3, but players can also expect to see Arlecchino and Clorinde as featured characters in the second half.
