Summary
AnotherGrand Theft Auto Onlineupdate is now available for download on PC, having debuted on December 13. This is a noticeably smaller release compared to the previousGTA Onlineupdate.
The latest major content drop for Rockstar’s hit live-service game debuted on December 10 in the form of the Agents of Sabotage update. Apart from a new set of story missions, it introduced the Garment Factory business, new vehicles, and even aVice CityEaster egg forGTA Onlineplayers to discover, among other novelties.
Three days after theAgents of Sabotage update debuted across all versions ofGTA Online, Rockstar pushed out another patch on Friday, December 13. This release is only available on PC, with its changelog mentioning but one item: a fix for a bug that could result in players being kicked fromGTA Onlineafter receiving a BattlEye notification. Because of its minimal content, the December 13 update does not come with a new version number. Rockstar continues to classify it as part of the 1.70 release, the same designation given to the December 10 patch. Hotfixes of this sort are a common occurrence following majorGTA Onlineupdates like Agents of Sabotage, and even more of them could be on the way in the days ahead.
As for this particular update, the reason it’s only available on PC is that it tweaks a PC-specific feature.BattlEye is an anti-cheat system that was added toGTA Onlineback in September 2024, following a decade’s worth of fan pleas. If it detects suspicious activity or unauthorized behavior, it will alert the player about its findings via an in-game notification. Depending on the type of the issue, BattlEye can exercise its authority to kick players out of a game. While Rockstar’s latest changelog doesn’t go into a lot of details on what exactly has been fixed with the December 13 patch, it implies that the company’s BattlEye implementation might have resulted in some false positives.
Agents of Sabotage was the finalbigGTA Onlineupdatethat was planned for 2024. Since 2019, Rockstar has consistently treated its hit game to two major content drops per year and is still showing no signs of slowing down. It remains to be seen how much longer the company keeps up with this release pace. WhileGTA Onlineis still going strong, with millions of fans continuing to return to it on a monthly basis, there’s a chance that a significant chunk of its player base will migrate to the online component ofGTA 6once the much-anticipated game finally hits the market.
