Summary
No Man’s Skyhas a vast set of in-game mechanics that aid players in exploring itsmanyprocedurally generated worlds. One of these is its farming mechanics, which enable players to harvest and collect an extensive range of materials, such as solar vine and frost wort, that can be used to craft different items and products to be sold to thegame’s merchants.
Oxygen is another key resource that players must harvest to survive in the dangerous environments ofNo Man’s Sky.Oxygen can be harvested in numerous ways and isessential to survival, powering the life support system of players' exosuits.

5Refining
Versatile Oxygen Refining Method
As with most materials inNo Man’s Sky,Oxygen can be collected fromrefining certain resourcesusing a refiner to convert them. Refiners take many forms inNo Man’s Sky,from portable refiners that can be deployed easily to industrial, such as large refiners that can convert three materials into another.
Materials such as Kelp Sac can be altered into Oxygen in a 1-1 ratio. In contrast, combining materials such as Frost Crystal, Condensed Carbon, and Kelp Sac can generate 10 Oxygen when converted together using a large refiner. Refining is a key way to generate Oxygen; refiners can also be attached to exosuits when using the personal refiner and the personal refiner Mk 2 to generate Oxygen on the go.

4Resource Gathering
Abundant Oxygen-Giving Material
Resource-gathering is a key component ofNo Man’s Sky forcrafting materials and producing items. Oxygen can also be obtained from Oxygen-rich plants when gathering resources. A type of Flora, Oxygen-rich plants are distinctly red and can be found across various worlds, from living and briefing biomes to desolate dead planets. When players collect the flora, Oxygen is automatically generated, giving them a small amount of Oxygen for their life support systems.
These oxygen-rich plants are fundamental for resource gathering, aiding players in survival if their life support systems are low. Luckily, these plants are usually abundant across planetary systems, acting as a lifeline for explorers. Oxygen can also be found in other types of flora as a secondary element for harvesting.

3Toxic Materials
Deadly, but Rewarding Oxygen Sources
Hazardous Flora are extremely deadly variations of flora that are undetectable via normal scans of planets. One type of Hazardous Flora is the tentacle plant, which uses its long protruding tentacles to harm. If players can defeat this flora, Oxygen is dropped for them to harvest.
Underground Toxic Hazard is another toxic material that can be harvested for Oxygen. Underground Toxic Hazards can be harvested using a Haz-Mat Gauntlet to drop over eight oxygen units. These contaminated entities are a great source of Oxygen when exploringNo Man’s Sky’sdeep, dark caverns.

2Oxygen Vendors
Convenient But Costly
As with mostmaterials and substancesinNo Man’s Sky, Oxygen can be bought from various vendors scattered across the game’smany space stationsand galactic trade terminals. Oxygen can be purchased and sold on the Galactic market for the right price and traded for certain materials.
Space stations also have a breadth of NPC vendors who sell Oxygen, supporting players' needs if they have the right amount of coin on them. Vendors are a great way to obtain large quantities of Oxygen for those willing to pay a premium for the substance.

1Harvesters
Efficient But Resource Intensive
Harvesters are another great way to generate Oxygen inNo Man’s Sky.Oxygen harvesters can be built using metal plating materials, dihydrogen jelly, and life support gel, with the core goal of harvesting Oxygen from the atmosphere. At maximum energy capacity, these harvesters can generate 250 units of Oxygen in a quarter of a hr, making them a powerhouse in material generation. However, they are costly, requiring a lot of Carbon to run at full power.
An Atmosphere Harvester can also be used to gather Oxygen, but it depends on the planetary environment, with exotic planets yielding Oxygen as its core atmospheric material. This variant of harvester also requires an extensive amount of Carbon to run. Finally, gas extractors can also harvest Oxygen at Concentrated Gas Cloud sites. These harvesters gather materials from gas clouds, which differ in the gases available depending on the planet. Oxygen is one of these gases, alongside Nitrogen, Sulphurine, and Radon.
