Ascendancies arePath of Exile 2’sversion of subclasses. Each of the playable character types has multiple Ascendancies that specialize in one or two different playstyles, offering a huge degree of diversity when it comes to buildcrafting.
The skills tied to Ascendancy classes often lead to huge power spikes, and to get them, you’ll need more than justPassive Skill Points inPoE 2.Here’s what you need to do to unlock your first Ascendancy class.

How to Unlock Ascendancy Class in PoE 2
Ascendancy classes are unlocked by completing theTrial of the Sekhemas in Act 2. However, before players can reach that area, they’ll first need to defeatBalbala inPoE 2. She is located inTraitor’s Passage leading to the Halani Gates.
Balbala can be a tough boss to beat. If you’re having trouble taking her down, consider continuing the rest of Act 2 until you get better gear and more skill points. Then, return to her prison in Traitor’s Passage for a quick and easy beating.

Trial of the Sekhemas
The Trial of the Sekhemas isa multi-room gauntlet that can be fairly challenging. Not only do some rooms inflict players with debilitating debuffs, but it also gives players an Honour bar, which acts much like a health bar — every hit you take reduces your Honour, and if you lose it all, you die. Death will result in you failing the trial, forcing you to start over again.
If you finish the Trial of the Sekhemas, you’ll reach a reward room where you can use any keys you found during the trial to open chests. More importantly, there’s an altar there that will give you your first two Ascendancy Points.

We strongly recommendfarming for better gear inPoE 2before challenging the Trial of the Sekhemas, as failure can be very time-consuming (and frustrating).
How to Get More Ascendancy Points in PoE 2
After scoring your first two points, you’ll be able to get your next pair by reaching Act 3 andcompleting the Trial of Chaos. to enter it, you’ll need anUltimatum, which is much like Balbala’s Barya. The first Ultimatum drops from Xyclucian the Chimera, an area boss in the Chimeral Wetlands.
The Trial of Chaos is something like a more challenging version of the Trial of Sekhemas, but with some major differences:

Completing this trial for the first time rewards you with another two Ascendancy Points. To get even more points, you’ll need to finish these trials again on Cruel Difficulty, which is unlocked after beating the first threePath of Exile 2acts for the first time. This may change later on as the game development continues.
