Flight is one of the new mechanics added toWuthering Wavesin its big 2.0 update, and it’s one of the best ways to move around Rinascita’s howling cliffs and floating islands. It won’t necessarily replace the traditional grapple and gliding mechanics, but it’s there to provide players with a new way to explore the world.

There are a few nuances when it comes to flying, and when you’re exploring relatively cramped spaces likeRagunna inWuWa, you likely won’t get much use out of it at all. Here’s what you need to know about this traversal feature, including the basics on how to fly and how to unlock it in the first place.

Description of WuWa’s Flight mechanic

How to Unlock Flight in WuWa

The Flight mechanic is automatically unlocked after players completeThe Sacred Breeze So Often Breathes, one of the very early Rinascita story quests that will have players touring Ragunna with Zani, a staff member of the Montelli family. Thankfully, this quest mostly involves exposition, and if you aren’t interested in dialogue, just skip the scenes until you reach the part where you visit the Order of the Deep.

Flying will become available once you step into the temple, but you won’t be able to use it immediately due to there being no suitable spaces for flying.

How to Fly in WuWa

to actually use the Flight mechanic, you must fulfill these two conditions:

Unfortunately, flying is currently region-locked, and players will only be able to use this mechanic while they’re in Rinascita. If you want to look for collectibles likeWindchimes in Mt. Firmament, then you’ll have to rely on traditional traversal options.

Flight in WuWa’s utility wheel

Once you arrive at a point of significant elevation, such as the edge of a cliff or the top of a tower, your utility tool (the button you use for Grapple, Scan, etc), will automatically be converted into the new Wings tool for flying. From here, just jump off the ledge and press your Utility button, and you’ll immediately start flying.

You can also bind Flight to your Utility Wheel for more convenient access. However, the elevation and Rinascita requirements still apply. Open this wheel with Tab or D-Pad Left.

While flying, you can dive to increase your momentum, or ascend to increase your altitude. You won’t be able to ascend if you don’t have enough momentum, but you can bypass this by usingUltra Flight, which lets you fly without constraints in exchange for significantly increased Flight stamina consumption — don’t worry, as this won’t affect yourregular Stamina inWuWa. Ultra Flight is bound to your Sprint/Dodge button by default.
