Summary
OneIndiana Jones and the Great Circleplayer has discovered a third-person view mode in the game, allegedly due to a bug. Similar to developer MachineGames’s previous titles,Indiana Jones and the Great Circleis primarily a first-person view game, with only certain actions switching the camera to a third-person perspective during gameplay.
Since hitting the shelves on December 9,Indiana Jones and the Great Circle—Bethesda’s latest AAA release—has received a very positive reception, with praise directed towards its story in particular. Excitingly, publisher Bethesda Softworks isn’t quite done with the action-adventure title yet, as plans for a DLC expansion have previously been confirmed. Beyond that, Lucasfilm—owner of theIndiana JonesIP—has talked about apotential sequel to the Swedish developer’sIndiana Jonesgame, possibly coming in the future.

Recently, Reddit user theraineydaze shared an alleged bug encounter inIndiana Jones and the Great Circlethat left them “stuck” in the third-person view. In the video, the titular protagonist can be seen engaging in different actions, ranging from rowing a boat to swimming, from the third-person camera perspective. While the leg animations in third-person view seem noticeably wonky when moving or turning on foot, other actions such as swimming and climbing appear to be free of these issues. One of the comments noted this, saying, “Not as janky as you might expect …,” whereas another person said that it wasn’t “lookin’ bad at all.” Interestingly, as shown in the clip, the third-person camera bug stays intact even whenIndiana Jones uses the fast travel featureto load a new location.
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle Fan Shows the Third-Person Camera Bug, Shares Possible Cause
Apparently, user theraineydaze was stuck with the third-person view for their entire session. Talking about how the bug was triggered, they recalled traveling in their boat before “squeezing” through a narrow passage “between two ruins.” They continued that the camera “popped out” at that point and wouldn’t revert to first-person view until they loaded their old save file. Underlining their imperfect experience playing through the issue, theIndiana Jones and the Great Circleplayer said that the game became “unplayable” while the bug was still in effect. They argued that this was because the camera wouldn’t “move naturally” in the current state of the game’s third-person view.
In the meantime, MachineGames has been working on fixing such bugs and further improving the experience forIndiana Jones and the Great Circleplayers. So far, the studio has shipped two major updates, the second of which enabledXbox owners to get noticeably enhanced visualson their Indiana Jones-led escapade.
