While it’s possible to find the Excavation Site safe beforehand, you won’t be able to open it until you trigger the ‘Signs of Trouble’ Mystery, which becomes available after you complete the’A Nun in Trouble’Fieldwork side quest. Tostart ‘Signs of Trouble’inIndiana Jones and the Great Circle, head to theSistine Chapelby theBorgia Courtyardsto the south ofVatican Cityand pick up theMystery Notefrom theBible on the altar(titled ‘La Bibbia’). It’s a note from Gina asking you to retrieve some information from her contact from the foreman’s office at the dig site. She also wants you to return the information for her to grab later.
Excavation Site Safe Code Solution
Fortunately,Gina’s Mystery Notecontains all the information you need, including theExcavation Site safe code solutionwhich is1891, as pictured at the bottom of her note above. Head to theExcavation Siteto thesouthof the map, as pictured above, and enter the large tent across the wooden walkways. Provided you avoid lingering near the captain outside the tent andequip the Blackshirt Disguisebeforehand, the patrolling Blackshirts should let you pass without any fuss. Unless you climb the back entrance wall just past the Tower of Nicholas V, it’s also best to wear the Blackshirt Disguise to reach the Excavation Site through the Apostolic Palace.
Enter the tent to find the Excavation Site safe on the table and enter the code1891to open it. Inside, you’ll find a wad of cash (80 Lira) plus a Mystery Note, which contains the Contact’s Message, as pictured below.
TheContact’s Messagecontains a note from the contact plus an air ticket from Hamburg to Peru - it seems the missing ancient languages expert, Dr. Laura Lombardi has been on a trip to Peru. It’s now time to relay the information to Gina.
How To Return The Contact’s Message To Gina
To complete ‘Signs of Trouble,’ return to theSistine Chapel, the quickest route being back through the Apostolic Palace andusing the nearby signpost to fast-travelthere from the Borgia Courtyards.Interact with the Bible on the altaragain toreturn the Contact’s Messageby sneakily placing it in the book. Doing so completes the Signs of Trouble Mystery and rewards you with100 Adventure Points. There’s also the 80 Lira you grabbed from the safe earlier, of course.
