Summary

MachineGames, the Bethesda studio behind the recently releasedIndiana Jones and the Great Circle, seems to be working on more than one unannounced project.Indiana Jones and the Great Circlewas released earlier in December to glowing reviews, with many critics and fans alike calling it one of 2024’s best games, despite it missing the cutoff date for Geoff Keighley’s 2024 Game Awards.

Prior to makingIndiana Jones and the Great Circle, MachineGames had been known as theWolfensteinstudio at Bethesda, handling the rebooted FPS franchise. MachineGames made a total of fourWolfensteintitles in five years, which includes 2014’sThe New Orderand 2017’s sequelThe New Colossus, as well as their respective follow-up spin-offsThe Old BloodandYoungblood. BeforeThe Great Circlewas announced several years ago, the leading theory was that MachineGames was working on the third mainlineWolfensteingame. Now that the studio’sIndiana Jonesgame is out the door, fans of MachineGames areclamoring forWolfenstein 3once more.

On LinkedIn,MachineGames' Audio Director Pete Wardupdated his experience section now thatIndiana Jones and the Great Circlehas been released. The updated text now mentions that he’s worked onIndiana Jones and the Great Circle, and is also now working on “unannounced projects.” This almost certainly means that MachineGames may very well be developingmore than one game post-Indiana Jones. Exactly what these games are remains a mystery.

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle Studio May Be Working On More Than One Game

It’s very possible that one of these unannounced projects could beWolfenstein 3. Summer 2025 will mark six years since the latest in the series,Wolfenstein: Youngblood, and a whopping eight years sinceWolfenstein 2in 2017. It’s also not outside the realm of possibility that these projects could be a mainline and spinoffWolfensteincombo, with the spinoff set to release a year or two afterWolfenstein 3, just like the previous two main entries. One of these games being a new IP is also a possibility, but the chances ofMachineGames immediately working on another Indy gameare slim, unless it’s a small standalone spin-off piece.

Although one or more of these projects have likely been in the works alongsideThe Great Circle, it may still be a year or two at least before fans of MachineGames can expect to learn what these games are. In the meantime, the studio is planning onbringingIndiana Jones and the Great Circleover to PlayStation 5at some point in early 2025, though a release date has yet to be confirmed.
