Summary

With the announcement of Godzilla coming toFortnitein Chapter 6, the floodgates have been opened to all sorts of non-humanoid characters making an appearance. Godzilla’s build doesn’t match up as nicely with the standard player model as anything else in the game, so there’s no reason to think any number of Kaijus couldn’t appear, however big, small, or grotesque.

After all, Godzilla needs someone to fight, as he has been doing sinceGodzilla Raids Againdebuted in 1955. This list looks at eightKaiju that would be perfect additions toFortnite. Some of these characters will be more recognizable to Western gamers than others, but each has a distinct charm that would fit right in with the colorful cast ofFortniteskins.

Ultraman

8Ultraman

A Big Guy Who Fights Kaijus

PlacingUltramanon this list is probably cheating, considering his humanoid appearance and the fact that he isn’talwaysa giant man. However, he exists within the world of the kaiju and is often seen fighting them to keep the people of Japan safe from rampages. For many Japanese gamers, Ultraman would be an instantly recognizable figure, especially considering his appearance in multiple series and films.

Compared to the other kaiju on this list, Ultraman is probably the easiest to implement intoFortnite, considering how well his body shape would lend itself to the default human model in the game.

King Ghidorah

7King Ghidorah

A Different King Of The Monsters

King Ghidorahis an icon to many, and arguably one of Godzilla’s strongest foes in both the Japanese film series and the 2010s American adaptation. A giant, three-headed dragon with huge wings, King Ghidorah would be an interesting addition toFortnite’skaiju roster for not only its popular brand image but also the unique challenge of implementing it into the game.

One consistent design choice throughout versions of King Ghidorah is that it has no arms, not that this stops it from being a menacing foe. This would pose an obstacle forFortnite’s game design, considering how King Ghidorah is unable to handle guns in a typical manner. It would be fascinating to see how Epic could circumvent this issue.

Destoroyah

6Destoroyah

An Evolving Nightmare

Fortnitehas had several skins with multiple evolutions, with additional elements being added with each version.Destoroyahis the perfect kaiju to embody this idea, with the character evolving throughout the Godzilla film it is present in. Changing and evolving to better fight Godzilla, Destoroyah goes from being a collection of crab-like creatures to the formidable kaiju most think of.

Considering Destoroyah uses Godzilla’s DNA to become its final, “perfected,” form, using the base model for Godzilla inFortniteand building the Destoroyah skin on top of it could be the best way to implement it. This could also lead to an interesting, new iteration of the character.

Biollante

5Biollante

Stop And Smell The Roses

Biollanteis perhaps the least humanoid kaiju on this list, but similar to King Ghidorah, the implementation of such a character would be fantastic to see. Biollante is a mutant, combining the DNA of Godzilla, a human, and a rose, leading to the hulking plant monster seen in numerousGodzillafilms.

Similarly to Destoroyah, the potential for Epic to build a unique interpretation of Biollante to add it toFortniteis enticing to any fan of the Heisei-era films. This is yet another formidable foe for Godzilla to face, which could also make for a funboss battlein the Battle Royale game mode.

Hedorah

4Hedorah

Who Better To Stalk The Storm Than The Smog Monster?

First appearing in 1971’sGodzilla vs. Hedorah, this sludge monster is possibly one of Godzilla’s least attractive enemies. Despite its bizarre appearance,Hedorahis yet another foe thatgave Godzilla significant issues when they first fought, thanks to Hedorah’s water-rich body combating the giant lizard’s atomic breath.

Although it first appears as a creature reminiscent of The Blob, Hedorah does take a bipedal form that isn’t shape too differently from other kaiju on this list. It is perhaps the most humanoid, save for Ultraman, and simply has some extra blobby extremities, making it the perfect contender for aFortniteappearance.

Gigan

3Gigan

Upgrades People, Upgrades

Giganis a fascinating kaiju, an extraterrestrial cyborg who hasappeared in severalGodzillafilms with varying levels of cyborg enhancements. In its original form, it was a huge lizard-like creature, similar in stature to Godzilla itself, with a metallic beak, hooks for hands, and a huge buzz-saw in its chest.

It has also appeared with varying weaponry, all of which seem right at home in its cybernetically enhanced body. Unlike most other kaiju, Gigan would be unable to carry traditional weaponry. However, it would allow Epic to implement a character who uses their own body as a weapon, augmented by the guns found on the battlefield, which would be a unique addition toFortnite.

Gamera

2Gamera

Godzilla’s Cinematic Nemesis

Gamerais Godzilla’s rival not in a literal sense, as the two have never appeared on-screen together, but rather in a monetary sense. Gamera was introduced as an attempt to rival the success of Godzilla, who had become the poster lizard for the kaiju film genre. While Gamera’s films have been successful in Japan, their reach hasn’t quite extended into the West the same way Godzilla has.

Gamera has a similar build to Godzilla, being a large, stocky creature, but it has a large shell on its back (a perfect opportunity for someFortniteback bling). It would be more than capable of making the transition to theFortnitestyle in the same way Godzilla has, and it would be a perfect opportunity for this underappreciated kaiju to breach the West.

Mechagodzilla Split Image

1Mechagodzilla

The Next Best Thing

Created by humans to combat Godzilla, there isn’t a better choice for aFortniteskin thanMechagodzilla. Not only does it have almost the same body shape as Godzilla, but it has numerous versions for Epic to include, thus increasing opportunities to add more than one skin to the game.

Most of theFortnitecommunity will be familiar with the 2021Godzilla vs Kongappearance of the character. However, several other slightly goofier versions would fit the fun, colorful world ofFortnitejust as well. Plus, it has so many weapons built into it, that the possibilities for unique emotes, pickaxes, and gliders are truly limitless.
