LG is about to change the game with a trio of cutting-edge ultrawide gaming monitors in their UltraGear GX9 series, set to be unveiled at CES 2025 this January. The lineup includes a mind-blowingbendable 45-inch OLED modelboasting a crisp 5K2K resolution and a uniquedual-mode featurethat lets you prioritize resolution or refresh rates, depending on your gaming needs.

This isn’t the first bendable ultrawide to hit the market. Corsair beat LG to the punch with itsXeneon Flex 45WQHD240, but LG’s offering will be thefirst to boast an expansive 5120x2160 resolution. Spread across 45 inches, that translates to roughly 125 pixels per inch, which is plenty sharp for both immersive gaming and productive work.

LG UltraGear 45GX990A: The Monitor That Bends to Your Will

Why choose between flat or curved ultrawide, when you can have both?

Two years ago, LG introduced theDualUp Monitor, essentially two 28-inch 1440p monitors stacked vertically without a center bezel. The latest innovation now comes in the form of the UltraGear 45GX990A Bendable. This monitor cantransition from completely flat to a 900R curvature. This means you’ll no longer have to choose between a flat ultrawide, ideal forphoto and video editing, and a curved ultrawide for immersive gaming.

Unveiled alongside the bendable UltraGear 45GX990A is another 45-inch 5K2K ultrawide OLED monitor, the UltraGear 45GX950A. The two monitors share nearly identical features, with the only difference being the 45GX950A has a fixed 800R curvature. Both monitors feature LG’s latest WOLED panel technology, promising the best picture quality available in a gaming monitor, with true blacks, higher HDR brightness, and stunning colors.

The upcoming ultrawide monitors will also include one of my favorite features in a gaming monitor:Dual Mode. The new UltraGear GX9 series brings Dual Mode refresh rates and resolutions to ultrawide monitors. This time, you’ll be able to switch not only between higher resolution and blistering refresh rates but also between custom aspect ratios and picture sizes. Depending on what you want to watch, you can set the display to 16:9 mode or work on a smaller 27-inch window.

The rest of the features include a 0.03 ms response time, DisplayPort 2.1, HDMI 2.1, and USB-C with 90W power delivery. Combined with NVIDIA G-SYNC and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro, the 45GX990A and 45GX950A check all the boxes for a high-end gaming monitor. The 45GX950A adds anRGWB subpixel layout, making it easy to read text and numbers for productivity-focused tasks.

Another LG Monitor Gets Smarter With Built-In webOS

Catch up on your favorite movies during your downtime

The third monitor in the upcoming UltraGear GX9 lineup is the LG UltraGear 39GX90SA. This model features a slightly smaller 39-inch OLED display with a 3440x1440 resolution and a fixed 800R curvature. While smaller than its siblings, it still boasts the same immersive 21:9 aspect ratio, providing a wider field of view than standard 16:9 monitors. The biggest highlight is the built-in webOS, allowing for effortless streaming of your favorite movies and TV shows.

LG hasn’t revealed pricing or availability for the monitors, but we expect to get more information during the official unveiling at CES 2025. Nevertheless, the bendable UltraGear 45GX990A is one of the hottest gaming monitors to look out for in 2025. CES 2025 will officially kick off on the 7th of January next week, so check back for additional pricing and availability information.
