Summary

With so many characters from the Marvel franchise finding their way intoMarvel Rivals, it’s only a matter of time before everyone’s favorite heroes find their fit on the roster. InMarvel Rivals, every character has lore and history that can be read, as well as the maps, seasons, and events.

This lore reveals the narratives that push forwardMarvel Rivals’action-packed gameplay, creating reasons why various heroes are fighting one another. Through the many pages of lore found throughout the hero shooter and through dialogue, many otherMarvelcharacters are mentioned by name. However, they aren’t playable characters…at least not yet.

A Primary Villain in the Lore

In many of the characters' lore pages, fans will notice continuous mentions of vampires, and how the heroes had to fight against vampires invading the city. This vampire event is important to several heroes, like Spider-Man and Cloak and Dagger, as they’d been fighting the creatures after Doom v Doom 2099 happened.

In Spider-Man’s lore “Unfriendly Neighborhood,” Dracula faces off against Spider-Man, Blade, and The Human Torch. At the end of this lore page, Dracula ominously drags Blade off into the night, with Spider-Man left in the dark as to what happened to his friend.

Morbius

An Unlikely Vampire Ally

With all the talk of vampires, it is only natural that Morbius would be mentioned. Morbius is mentioned once inMarvel Rivals, when Squirrel Girl and Spider-Man are on the same team. Withthe two Duelistson a team, Spider-Man starts to talk with Squirrel Girl about the vampires that invaded New York.

At the end of this conversation, Spider-Man also states that Morbius actually showed up during the fight to help fend off Dracula’s vampires. With this, Morbius is technically out there in theMarvel Rivals​​​​​​universe.

Vampire-Hunter and NYC Hero

Blade, the natural heroof choice to save New York City from vampires, also appears in Spider-Man’s lore “Unfriendly Neighborhood.” In it, Spider-Man declines to help Spider-Zero; he’d rather stay in New York City to fight off the vampires. The Human Torch shows up and tells Spider-Man that Blade has arrived.

The three heroes start to fight Dracula’s minions until Dracula himself appears. Dracula almost effortlessly deals with the three superheroes, and as Blade saves Spider-Man, Dracula picks Blade up and takes him back to his castle.

The Powerful King in Black

Since Klyntar is one of the maps inMarvel Rivals, it makes sense that Knull would be mentioned in the game. Knull is mentioned several times throughoutMarvel Rivals. In Venom’s lore,“Betray The Umbra,” he adventures off with Magik to end Knull’s reign, eventually teaming up with Adam Warlock.

Venom even found the Necrosword, which was lodged into a Celestial’s side. Knull is also mentionedin Hela’s lorepage, “Messenger of the Abyss,” where the two challenge each other’s power over the Celestials and Hel.

Old King of Asgard

The father of Thor finds his way intoMarvel Rivalsthrough character lore pages. The most prominent lore page that Odin resides in is, surprisingly, Adam Warlock’s. In Adam Warlock’s lore, “Golden Sail,” Adam sleeps in his cocoon and then hears a voice call his name.

This voice turns out to be Odin, who relates to Adam Warlock as the two sleep as the multiverse is at stake. Here, fans learn that Loki has taken over Yggsgard, one of the maps inMarvel Rivals, and also that Knull would be a danger. With this, Adam Warlock vows to end Knull’s reign.

The Guardian’s Destroyer

Only some of the Guardians of the Galaxy members made it onto the roster ofMarvel Rivals, with Gamora and Drax being left out. Drax is mentioned a couple of times among the Guardians of the Galaxy crew. In one of the interactions between Star-Lord and Rocket Racoon, Star-Lord states that Drax is going to hate that he missed out on the action.

In another quote between Mantis and Rocket Racoon, Rocket states that he’ll call Drax for a jailbreak. With these quotes, fans can only hopethey’d see The Destroyermake his way into the hero-shooter one day.

Wakanda’s Fierce General

A few of Wakanda’s heroes are hinted at inMarvel Rivals,including Shuri and Okoye. Okoye is mentioned once in the game, found while playing on theImperial Dueling Ground mapin Wakanda. Okoye’s armor sits in a display on the wall, and players can walk up and interact with it. This will cause Okoye’s message to play.

Performing this action will grant players an achievement called “Shero of Wakanda.” Though this is the primary inclusion of Okoye, it is a powerful one that players must interact with to complete their achievements.

The Original Iron Fist

When fans found out that Iron Fist would be coming toMarvel Rivals, many thought that it would be Danny Rand, as it seemed natural. To many players' surprise,Marvel Rivals’Iron Fist actually turned out to be Lin Lie. Lin Lie was also known as the hero Swordmaster inMarvel Comics.

In an interaction between Moon Knight and Iron Fist, Moon Knight states that Lin Lie isn’t the Iron Fist he knew, and Lin Lie asks, “Were you expecting Danny Rand?” Lin Lie also recognizes the Iron Fists before him upon spawning into a game, stating that he will be the best.

The Young Avengers' Hawkeye

Kate Bishop was an important figure in Hawkeye and Jeff the Land Shark’s lives, and is mentioned between the two through lore and dialogue. In an interaction between Jeff the Land Shark and Hawkeye, while they’re in the spawn room,Hawkeye statesthat Kate has been “worried sick” about Jeff.

In Jeff’s lore page, “Sharknado,” Kate is briefly mentioned in a line in which Jeff remembers going to the zoo with Kate. Near the end of Sharknado, Kate is mentioned once more as Jeff ponders what his friends would do in the situation he’s stuck in, assuming that Kate would use an explosive arrow to escape.

Founder of the X-Men and School for Mutants

Seeing as there are many X-Men already lining the roster inMarvel Rivals, it would be expected that Charles Xavier is mentioned at least once throughout the Mutants' lore. In Magneto’s lore, “Trial of Magneto,” Charles Xavier is only briefly mentioned as Magneto puts together Cerebro.

In Storm’s lore, “Dreamy Dew,” Charles is hinted at much more. Storm had felt a powerful presence, and wished to tell Xavier about it immediately, as she felt her vision aligned more closely to his, but pondered where the professor would even be in the midst of all the multiversal chaos.
