BecauseMarvel Rivalsis trying to deliver a massive hero shooter set within the Marvel universe, it is filled to the brim with fun easter eggs for players to discover. The various maps are littered with items to find, the heroes discuss events that fans will likely recognize, cosmetic items are ripped straight from other Marvel projects, and almost every aspect ofMarvel Rivalsfeels like it has been crafted by a fan. And the best part, it does not seem like it is shying away from anything.

One such easter egg that players may discover appears onthe Yggsgard Convoy mapin the form of a pair of screaming goats. While they may just seem like random creatures, MCU fans might instantly recognize them from the controversialThor: Love and Thunderas screaming goats ended up being a major part of that film’s story. So, even if it was never intended to be an Easter egg, it feels likeMarvel Rivalsmay be honoring every corner of the vast Marvel library, no matter how much fans seemed to hate it, which is great to see.

Marvel Rivals' Screaming Goats Were Born From Thor: Love and Thunder

Thor: Love and Thunder Was Extremely Controversial

Afterthe success ofThor: Ragnarok, MCU fans were very excited to see where Taika Waititi would take the character in the next outing. Not only was the third movie a breath of fresh air for Thor, but he was also set to be the first Avenger to get a fourth film. And if that was not enough, the Guardians of the Galaxy were also set to appear. So, all eyes were on the project to see if it could deliver. However, it quickly proved controversial upon release.

Many fans felt likeThor: Love and Thunderwasted its premiseand leaned too hard into comedy, which made for a disappointing film overall. While there were many things fans disliked, one aspect seemed to keep coming back up whenever people discussed the film: the screaming goats. These goats appeared multiple times throughout the film, and they would unleash a massive annoying scream every time they were onscreen. Because of that, they are often used as an example of how this film was just too weird, and many are hoping they never appear again.

Marvel Rivals Has Let the Screaming Goats Live On in a New Form

Marvel Rivalsmay not put a heavy emphasis on the screaming goats, but NetEase Games actually did end up incorporating them into the Yggsgardl map. On that map, the convoy that one team has to escort is led by said goats. As they push their way through, they also unleash their own little screams that can be heard from a little way away. And while these screams are not confirmed to befromThor: Love and Thunder, they do sound like they were ripped directly from it.

That is not the only thing fromThor: Love and Thunderthat will be making a debut inMarvel Rivalseither, as there is also a Thor skin from the film coming at some point. There is no release date attached to it, but players will eventually be able to dress up as that version of Thor. Couple that with the screaming goats, and it feels likethisThorfilm may have made its markonMarvel Rivals.

Even ifThor: Love and Thunderproved lackluster for many, it is funny to see NetEase Games seemingly include a nod to it. Some fans may never have noticed the goat connection, but many MCU fans likely did. And if the studio is willing to explore a controversial film like that, then there is no telling what other films it will honor as the updates roll out.
