Summary

AMass Effectfan online has shared a massive reason why it seems like the Paragon and Renegade morality system from previous games is set to return in the upcoming title. Very little is known about BioWare’s nextMass Effectgame right now, but the return of Paragon and Renegade is a must for some fans.

So far, the nextMass Effecttitle has been revealed in small teases, with comments from developers on the project offering more concrete information than anything BioWare has actually shown. Late last year, an executive producer at BioWare revealedplayers should potentially play through a classicMass EffectDLCbefore the next game, even if it’s some time away yet.

X user kalaelizabeth pointed out in a post that artwork released from the upcomingMass Effectfeatures coat folds that look just like the Paragon logo. While that sounds like it might be a stretch, overlaying the two shows that they definitely have a point. Their post attracted the attention of BioWare’s Michael Gamble, who gave a coy response, claiming, “You’ll just have to wait and see…” While Gamble’s response was vague, it could be deliberately so, and was anything but a denial.Mass Effectwouldn’t beMass Effectwithout Paragon and Renegade, and this is a positive indication that it’s coming back in the future.

Official Mass Effect Art Has Hints Towards Paragon and Renegade Return

The Paragon and Renegade morality system used in the originalMass Effecttrilogy was responsible for some of the series' most powerful moments. Players would gain Paragon and Renegade points throughout their playthrough, which dictated whether they were “good” or “evil” enough to pass certain checks to take specific actions. Although it was a binary system, the games fully embraced Paragon and Renegade, making it a big reason why theMass Effecttrilogy is considered to be among thegreat games where decisions truly matter.

Withthe development ofDragon Age: The Veilguardnow complete, the focus at BioWarepresumably moves to the nextMass Effect, which was first announced back in 2020. Despite the huge gap, very little is known about the game, with the studio offering small teasers each year, usually on N7 Day (November 7). Last year wasa quieter N7 Day for BioWare, with it coming around the launch period ofDragon Age: The Veilguard. Hopefully, the developer will be able to give fans something a little more substantial this year, especially given the long wait at this point.
