There’s no denying thatMinecraftis one of the biggest success stories in gaming, racking up a massive 300 million units sold to date, making it the best-selling video game of all time. The smash hit sandbox game was first released by creator Markus Persson in 2009 before its full 1.0 launch in 2011. Since then,Minecraft’s development studio Mojang has gone on to be acquired by Microsoft in 2014, while multipleMinecraftspin-off titles have also been developed, includingMinecraft DungeonsandMinecraftLegends.

Minecraft Players Want a Classic Biome
Over the course of many years,Minecrafthas received a myriad of free updates, drastically changing the aesthetic and feel of the game. While the core fundamentals remain the same, various graphical improvements and new gameplay features have madeMinecraftfeel like a completely different game when compared to its initial release. While the majority of the game’s community loves how Mojang has evolvedMinecraftover the years, some players are still yearning for that “classic"Minecraftfeel. One user has even gone as far as to conjure up an idea for a unique biome that would bring back the original style of the game from all the way back in 2009.
Reddit user ModularWings298 took to theMinecraftsubreddit to share their idea for a new biome known as “The Old Lands.” The premise of the biome is to bring backclassicMinecraftelements that haven’t been seen in the game for many years. The user explains that the biome would generate as a separate island and feature heavy fog, rose and cyan roses (which were removed in a later update), neon green trees and grass blocks, only play C418 music, and generate terrain from the alpha build ofMinecraft. They also explain how this classic biome would be a “really cool” addition to celebrate the game’s 20th anniversary in four years.

One user was quick to note that aMinecraftbiome modknown as Biomes O’Plenty actually allows users to explore something exactly like this. The mod adds a total of 60 new biomes toMinecraft, with one being known as Origin Valley. This biome is incredibly rare and features the roses mentioned by the user, as well as a similar color scheme to the game’s alpha build, meaning all of the trees and grass blocks are neon green, while the water is a much darker shade of blue.
