Netflix’s Narnia Adaptation Teases “Rock & Roll” Direction From Producer
Speaking withDeadline, producer Amy Pascal slightly shocked the Narnia fanbase when asked about Gerwig’s upcoming movie. Pascal, who started her own production company, Pascal Pictures, which made its debut with the2016Ghostbustersreboot, teased thatThe Chronicles ofNarnia adaptationwill be “a very new take on Naria. It’s all about rock and roll.” Pascal didn’t elaborate on this further, but her statement is certainly a little confusing. However, since Gerwig has previously put her own unique spin on movies likeBarbie, it surely sounds like fans will be in for an interesting adventure. Pascal said that she has “never seen anyone like Gerwig”, hinting at the director’s ability to hone in on the importance of a significant story and defy stereotypes, and also added that filming for the adaptation will begin in July 2025.
The news of Netflix teaming up with The C.S. Lewis Company landed all the way back in October 2018 in what the streaming company called a “multi-year deal”, which means that it plans to have multiple film and series projects on the hot plate, all based on the books of Narnia. In 2019,Netflix also announced that Matthew Aldrich, a screenwriter known for his work on the Pixar moviesCocoandLightyear, will join the team in overseeing the development and creative live-action adaptation of C.S. Lewis’ beloved The Chronicles of Narnia series.

According toThe Times, filming forThe Chronicles ofNarnia adaptation will take place at Shepperton Studios in England, which has been home to a host of popular TV and movie projects likeHarry PotterandNetflix’sThe Sandman. As of now, there isn’t a confirmed release window for the Narnia movie, but hopefully, itshouldn’tbe any later than 2027.
