Summary
The Sandmanseason two makes its big return this year as fans gear up for more of the hit fantasy series. The comic book adaptation was a huge success when it premiered onNetflixin 2022 and, since then, Neil Gaiman’s pivotal DC graphic novel series has been getting the attention it deserves. Now, the series' showrunner has stated that they want its second season to focus more on Dream - aka Morpheus.
For those who may have forgotten whatThe Sandman’s narrative entails, since it’s been a few years now from season one’s release, its story revolves around members of the Endless, afamily made up of cosmic entitiesthat include Desire, Death, and Despair. Dream, played by Tom Sturridge, who ends up being imprisoned before finally escaping from his captures, goes on to fix the Dreamworld that has fallen into ruin. Every episode from season one featured a different story from the Endless characters, but this time, it seems as though viewers will get more of Morpheus' development.

The Sandman Season 2 Will Break From the Comic to Focus On Dream
As reported byPopVerse,The Sandmanseason two’s showrunner, Allen Heinberg, has stated that they will hone in more onDream’s narrative and development for their live-action show. In a behind-the-scenes sneak peek atThe Sandmanseason two’s promo trailer, Heinberg said that the show they created is essentially about Dream, so in a bid to focus more on that, season two would follow his story more than what was shown in the comics. “The Sandman, as a comic book, is a sort of anthology that has a core narrative at its center. Our show really is about the story of Dream,” Heinberg continues. “And so, every decision that we’ve made story-wise in season 2 has been to follow Dream’s story through Sandman.”
This is great news for fans who tune in solely to see Sturridge flex his incredible acting skills as the powerful being older and greater than the gods, but that doesn’t mean that the rest of the Endless will be left on the cutting room floor (thankfully). As viewers have seen so far from season two’s teases, the Endless have been shown sitting around a table together in one scene, as well as the return ofJenna Coleman, who played Johanna Constantine. What it does seem to mean is that even though Dream will take the spotlight, other characters will be lopped into his narrative and still play a big part. Heinburg revealed that they want to keep The Sandman as faithful to the comic books as possible but also want to throw in some surprises that fans may not have expected. “We are constantly learning on this show and trying to bring the comic to life in a way that is faithful and yet has its own unique spin.”

So far,The Sandmanseason two has introduced nine new cast members, with the likes of Rose Bianco, best known as Rosa Diaz, Miguel’s doting grandmother on Netflix’sCobra Kai,joining the roster. Fans will also see the introduction of a"hot-tempered- Norse god, played by Laurence O’Fuarain, who promises to spice things up.
Season two ofThe Sandmanis expected to be released on Netflix sometime in 2025.
