Call of Duty Tweet Sparks Outrage

Continuing the recentCall of DutyxSquid Gamecollaboration, Activision took to the officialCall of DutyTwitter account on January 8 to promote a new store bundle based on The VIPs fromSquid Game. Unfortunately, this simple promotional tweet took a quick turn as fans blasted Activision for not being able to “read the room.” With bothBlack Ops 6andWarzonecontinuing to experience a variety of issues, many believeCall of Duty's social accounts should be acknowledging the issues and not promoting new store bundles.

Plenty of players quickly took issue with the tweet, largely due toCall of Duty’s ongoing issues with hackers and cheaters. Content creatorFaZe Swaggtold Activision to “read the room,” while news accountCharlieIntelsaid, “ranked play is so broken to the point where some people can only play 4 games in 4 hours but new bundles are more important right, got it.” Twitter userTaeskiialso chimed in and said they are refusing to purchase any store bundles until the game’s anti-cheat is fixed.

While plenty of players are expressing their disappointment in the comments of the tweet, others appear to be outright quitting the game due to the issues. Since the release ofBlack Ops 6in October last year,Call of Duty’s player count has declined massively on Steam. There’s no way to know if players are also declining on platforms such as PlayStation and Xbox, but over 47% of players have quitBlack Ops 6on Steam since its release, likely due to hackers and server issues.
