A sequel to the popular video game anime adaptationDemon Slayer: The Hinokami Chroniclesis on the way in 2025 after a recent announcement from publisher Sega, taking the fighting and adventure game to new territories. The game is in development by CyberConnect2, who made the first majorDemon Slayergame in 2021, and set for a release in 2025 on the PS4, PS5, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

Demon Slayerwas one of the most popular animeof its time when it first debuted in 2019 and went on to receive multiple theatrical films, video games, and even a live stage production adapting the original manga by Koyoharu Gotouge. The original manga series ended back in 2020, but the anime continues to this day with upcoming TV specials setting up the series' ultimate finale, set to come soon.

Now, a recent trailer from Sega revealed the upcomingDemon Slayer: The Hinokami Chronicles 2,a direct sequel to the first game, which will similarly be an action-adventure fighting game letting players control characters from the series. According to the trailer, the game will feature a lot of returning characters from the first game alongside a slew of newcomers as the highly-trained demon hunters known as the Hashira take center stage.

As for the story, the trailer reveals several key arcs seemingly to be adapted in the game, with scenes from theMugen Traintheatrical film appearing alongside the main villain of the Entertainment District arc from the anime series. The trailer did not reveal much in terms of gameplay, but it is likely fair to assume it will play similarly to the otherCyberConnect2 titles like theNaruto: Ultimate Ninjaseries.

The fighting genre is also not the only one the anime has ventured into with its video games, asDemon Slayer: Sweep the Boardturned the anime into a digital board gamesimilar toMario Party.The firstHinokamiChroniclesalso saw a variety of DLC packs release after its initial launch to include characters from subsequent story arcs and provide more options for players in both single-player and online matches.

Demon Slayeris also rumored to appear inFortnitesoon with its current season after a set of leaks revealed player skins seemingly on the way to the online battle royale as part of its ongoing Chapter 6 Season 1. It is still unclear when this collaboration will actually make its way to the game, but it seems likely to release soon, followingFortnite’s usual patterns when it comes to crossovers.
