As pointed out byDexerto, players have discovered how Celebi ex is OP, with the potential to find a place among thestrongestPokemon TCG Pocketcards. One of the reasons lies in the Mythical Pokemon’s ability, Powerful Bloom, which sees the player flip a coin for every energy Celebi ex has attached, dealing 50 damage every time they land heads. The other reason lies in the powerful combo it can make with Serperior, a new card based on Snivy’s final form, which has the ability Jungle Totem. With it, Serperior provides two Grass-type energies for every energy of that type attached to a Grass-type Pokemon, further increasing Celebi’s damage.

Celebi ex is Pokemon TCG Pocket’s New Mewtwo ex

Some players are already calling Celebi ex the “new Misty,” one ofPokemon TCG’s biggest headachesbecause of this card’s potential to win matches. Others recalled that the combo with Serperior reminds a lot of Gardevoir and Mewtwo ex, a duo often seen in PvP matches. However, while players may think that Celebi ex and Serperior can deal “infinite damage,” Redditor Tumpixel0 proved this isn’t quite the case. They and their brother played a private match to test the combo and discovered that the damage limit per turn is 990, which is still incredibly high.

To get Celebi ex players will have to grind, as the card doesn’t come that easily. There are three variants of Johto’s Mythical Pokemon in the game, and all are significantly rare; the immersive card has a 0.2% drop rate, while the ex full art and the regular ex cards have, respectively, a 0.05% and 0.3% chance of being pulled. Celebi ex owners should also note the existence of Aerodactyl ex, another card from thenewPokemon TCG Pocketmini-set. This is a big threat to the combo as it prevents Snivy and Servine from evolving, requiring a plan B to deal with it.
