Summary

Warhammer: Vermintide 2developer Fatshark has confirmed it is adding a brand-new map to the game next week, making it an exciting time forWarhammerfans. Despite being almost seven years old,Warhammer: Vermintide 2retains a dedicated player base online.

As the sequel to 2015’sWarhammer: End Times - Vermintide,Warhammer: Vermintide 2had much to live up to. The game was critically acclaimed upon its 2018 launch and has only continued to improve in subsequent updates. Thegame is frequently compared toLeft 4 Dead, with players taking on Skaven hordes instead of Zombies. Still, the core concept of 4-player co-op action remains exactly the same. As a matter of fact,Warhammer: Vermintide 2even features long-term progression beyond the current mission, which isn’t the case withLeft 4 Dead.

Detailing the update onSteam, developer Fatshark confirmed thatWarhammer: Vermintide 2will be adding a new map next week (the week beginning December 9). This map is called The Forsaken Temple, which is set to be the first of three missions in the new Verminous Dreams campaign. Warhammer: Vermintide 2 is Adding a Free New Map Next Week

Alongside this free update, Fatshark is also adding some new premium Hero cosmetics toWarhammer: Vermintide 2titled The Mythical Masquerade. According to the post, these cosmetics will be inspired by some of the most iconic characters from theWarhammerFantasy games. Fatshark has not yet given a date for this update, so fans need to keep an eye out throughout the week if they want to jump straight into the action.

Considering a spiritual successor was released in the form of 2022’sWarhammer 40,000: Darktide, it’s incredibly impressive thatWarhammer: Vermintide 2remains so popular that Fatshark can justify continuing support for the game. These aren’t minor updates, either. Last month, Fatshark releasedVersus mode forWarhammer: Vermintide 2, bringing an entirely new dynamic to the game. Once complete, the Verminous Dreams missions will form a fresh campaign for players to experience, too. It’s rare to see a game with support like this, especially when the updates are free - it should be celebrated.
