TheCall of Dutyfranchise is no stranger to crossovers. WhileCall of Duty: Ghostsfirst dipped its toes into the deep pool of pop-culture crossovers all the way back in 2014 with its collaboration with theSci-Fi horror seriesPredator,Call of Duty: Warzonehas since thrown the floodgates wide open.
Characters fromSaw,Die Hard,Donnie Darko,Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles,Warhammer 40,000,The Boys,Tomb Raider, and even Nicki Minaj herself have all appeared inCall of Dutyover the last few years as paid Operator skins. But whileCall of Dutyseems happy to collaborate with just about any TV or movie IP, it seems a little reluctant to cross over with fellow video game franchises, which is a shame, asResident EvilandCall of Dutywould be a perfect pairing.

A Call of Duty Zombies x Resident Evil Crossover Would Be a Match Made in Heaven
Capcom Has Proven Resident Evil Crossovers Aren’t Off The Table
WhileCall of Dutyhas rarely crossed over with other gaming franchises, the same can’t be said forResident Evil. 2021 was a huge year for theResident Evilfranchise, being the series' 25th anniversary. To mark the occasion, Capcom shared its belovedResident Evilcharacterswith the rest of the gaming world, resulting in a handful of notable crossovers.
Dead by Daylightprobably had the biggestResident Evilcrossover of the bunch, adding Leon Kennedy and Jill Valentine as playable Survivors, adding the Nemesis as a playable Killer, and adding the Raccoon City Police Department as a new map. About a year later,Dead by Daylightwould receiveanotherResident Evilcrossover, this time adding Ada Wong, Rebecca Chambers, and Albert Wesker to the ever-growing roster of horror icons.
Two other prominentResident Evilcrossovers occurred in 2021. One of these saw a limited-time event come to Ubisoft’sThe Division 2, where players could purchase a variety of skins based on the horror franchise’s cast, such as a Leon Kennedy RPD outfit, a Chris Redfield S.T.A.R.S. outfit, and an Umbrella Corporation uniform seemingly inspired byResident Evil’s Hunk.
2021 also saw Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine head toFortnite, with the former receiving outfits based on his appearances inResident Evil 5andResident Evil Village, and the latter getting outfits based on her appearance in theoriginal 1996Resident EvilandResident Evil 3 Remake. Leon Kennedy and Claire Redfield have since come toFortniteas well.
A Call of Duty x Resident Evil Crossover Just Makes Sense
Capcom seems to be pretty willing to play ball, and a crossover withCall of Duty Zombieswould make a lot of sense. Tone-wise,Call of Duty ZombiesandResident Evilare quite similar, with both using one-liners and quips to alleviate the games' strong violence and horror. Both games also share a penchant for puzzles, withResident Evilhaving its environmental puzzles andCall of Duty Zombieshaving its community-driven Easter eggs. And of course, both games are action-heavy experiences.
At the very least, it’d be great to get a set ofCall of DutyOperator skinsbased on theResident Evilfranchise, letting players mow their way through hordes on Liberty Falls, Terminus, and Citadelle des Morts while looking like Leon Kennedy, Chris Redfield, Jill Valentine, or Claire Redfield. This bundle would be made even better if it came with unique voicelines for each character, recorded by their current actors.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6’s third-person mode would make these hypotheticalResident Evilskins feel even more authentic.
But what would really make it a dreamCall of DutyxResident Evilcrossover is if it came alongside an in-game event that tweakedCall of Duty’s Zombies mode. For instance, the limited-time event could reskinCall of Duty: Black Ops 6’s Mangler enemyto look like one ofResident Evil’s Tyrants, and make the Vermin look likeResident Evil’s Cerberus zombie dogs.
